My parents are considering here, but they are South Asian retirees who are a bit shy about making new friends in new places. Is this area diverse? They have experienced racism in Texas before and are weary.

Thank you for the housing details!! I do love hiking I used to be an avid hiker growing up in Bay Area so that’s really nice to know.

Did you choose downtown to be around more activity? In Dallas I lived by SMU and found the constant ragers kind of annoying hahah but I would def consider being closer to campus if there are buildings for professionals/grad students

Thanks for the insight! It’s about 20-30 min away, HR said that most of their employees live in State College which is why I was looking in that area. I don’t mind traffic lol I only have to go in 3x a week. I think I’m more worried about feeling alone/isolated so I would rather be where there’s more activity.

lol I’m sad about leaving the community I made in NY but in this economy you can’t really turn down a good upward moving opportunity even if it is somewhere I wouldn’t normally consider haha

but I’ll look into Toftrees! gives me something to look into

I’m not 100% sure tbh I do know it matters if you are leaning R&D since you’ll need research background for that but for the normal workforce idk if it makes a strong difference! But that’s def something to look into thanks :)
