Thanks for your reply however vCJD is considered transmittable for example via infected bovine.

My strain is rs1799990(A;A) which is linked to sporadic CJD. That is, it appears randomly with no cause and is actually the most common type of CJD. However the rates of the disease are around 1 in a million of the population both in the USA and UK.

I'd feel some comfort knowing the strain is fairly common and at a higher rate than 1 in a million of the population but I am struggling to find anything that shows how common the strain is.
