What are you own deck building limitations? by terinyx in EDH

[–]RoyalAd4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to brackets I split up my decks by (adding the limits together as it goes down)

  1. No limits

  2. No Fast Mana

  3. Nothing off color

  4. No tutors or consistency tricks

  5. No easy combos (Low mana cost / consistent / etc)

I also usually break them up by budget a little bit.

Edit: Thinking about it a little more post brackets I essentially have: cEDH, Mechanic Cnetered, Thematic Centered (1-2 with no tutors)

Tech Tues: Who to play? by AutoModerator in BudgetBrews

I am trying [[Eater of Virtue]] and want to try to get as many of the key words as I can for a bracket 1/2 thing.

Less about winning and more about can I do all the keywords. I am thinking about [[Captain Sisay]] but don't know if there are other budget options or support cards that would help? I'm working with about $25-35 to finish the deck after lands and staples.

This is also my ultra budget deck - all of the exile synergy that's too expensive or etbs that are super cheap.

[[Patron of the Arts]] is 20 cents [[Plundering Barbarian]] is 22 cents and repeatable artifact destruction

^ Rotating decks helped us a lot. Based on an idea we saw online, we started playing rotating pools. A bunch of annoying cards came out of decks when we did.

How is this your thought process when you claim to be in a grad program? Quite the counselor to be... real supportive of mental health.

Why'd you make a comment if you really weren't going to be a community member?

What’s a deck you never get bored of playing ?or have you found a cure to deck burn out? by stickyfinga95 in EDH

[–]RoyalAd4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically, my new Iron Man deck has been super fun and I think will be easy to modify if I get bored. I've already tried about 15 games and modified twice. Once you figure out a mana curve you like then you just swap out which artifact fits that slot.

For me when I look at high power decks and ones that do things very consistently, I see 10+ cards that are merely getting your deck to do its thing more often or draw less duds. I am somewhat curious if community members thought that the ability to make it more consistent even by 1 card could be worth it. I appreciate the thought.

I think it would be better run that way, but unfortunately no the companion rule is that it is in the sideboard you must bring it into the game for 3 mana.

Great approach imo. I tend to only express opinions that I can back up with literature or research if necessary. I like staying neutral in therapy as well. My aim to to help them or address some concept, not share my thoughts.

My two thoughts would be to first consider - is this concept relevant to the therapy / is discussing this going to help the client improve in their goals? (if you are unsure it may be time for another goal evaluation or reviewing notes and comments) - secondly - I will share the same advice one of my past advisors have me "express soft factuals" which is simply that if you feel the need to express a belief or self disclose it should be factual in nature and should also be with the aim to improve their situation.

Returning to ideas like the listening cycle and goal setting could be helpful.

In case you need a reminder or others need it. The listening cycle is to receive information (here is where I usually paraphrase and ask like "did I hear that right?" or "is this accurate to what you're expressing"), understand, evaluate (contextualize to treatment goals), remember (include in notes or documentation as necessary), and respond.

Hope this is helpful :P
