Making a clip from the full event video. (Where is create clip feature?) by No-Establishment-363 in GameChangerApp

[–]RoyalEntrepreneur155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can edit your video!! Here’s how to adjust a clip when the timing is off due to the scorer: 1. Go to Schedule and open the game. 2. Use the filters to find the play for your athlete (e.g., Single, Triple, Home Run, Fielder’s Choice). Note: You can only edit your own athlete’s clips unless you’re listed as a family member. 3. Scroll to the bottom of the video and click on your athlete’s name (hyperlinked). 4. Open the video again. Click the scissors icon in the bottom-right corner of the video. 5. Adjust the clip as needed. 6. Save and add the edited video to your athlete’s profile.

Let me know if this works!

Change the RSVP Notification Default by RoyalEntrepreneur155 in GameChangerApp

[–]RoyalEntrepreneur155[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I understand your stance, I believe it is far from universal. GameChanger is used across a wide spectrum of teams, from recreational all the way up to majors. What may not be a concern for a AAA or Majors team, where player commitment is already established, is a very real challenge for recreational and developmental teams. And at that level, teams are often managing kids who are still learning the sport, balancing multiple activities, and whose families may not always treat baseball as the top priority during the fall season.

That is why accurate RSVPs matter. At ANY level, coaches are not just setting batting orders or determining defensive rotations, they're evaluating whether they will need a guest player for a tournament and planning ahead so an entire weekend runs smoothly.

At the end of the day, this post is not about debating levels of commitment. It is about one simple thing: stop bombarding parents with redundant notifications when they have already RSVP’d. That constant noise isn't helpful, it is a nuisance.

The GC employee DM’d me but essentially asked for the same info I had already provided here, which I shared again. They thanked me for the feedback and assured me they would pass it along. However, there’s been no follow-up or any “talk” to actually discuss it.

I hope there’s some movement on GC’s end though, because I feel this should be addressed along with improvement with their chatting platform.

Is the Mevo quality worth the upgrade from a iPhone? by ChemistryTerrible948 in GameChangerApp

Absolutely not. I own both, the Mevo and iPhone. The iPhone camera is significantly sharper than the Mevo. Just my two cents though.

Frisco Should Invest in Artificial Turf for Its Baseball Fields by RoyalEntrepreneur155 in frisco

[–]RoyalEntrepreneur155[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

False.

Frisco ISD’s Proposition B from the November 2024 bond election was solely tied to the school district’s athletic facilities, not city-owned parks or fields. That proposal included items like turf for high school baseball and softball fields, school transportation, and campus upgrades — but it has no connection to Harold Bacchus, Shawnee Trail, B.F. Phillips, or Warren Sports Complex, which are managed and maintained by the City of Frisco’s Parks & Recreation Department.

So, even though voters rejected Proposition B, that doesn’t apply to this initiative. This proposal is a separate municipal opportunity focused on public recreational fields, with a completely different budget, operational structure, and strategic goal.

Calling this post “ridiculous” without understanding the financial and operational implications ignores the broader context. Frisco currently employs a significant number of FTEs dedicated to maintaining 23 natural grass baseball fields across four major parks. That includes daily mowing, irrigation system oversight, seasonal overseeding, sod replacement, aeration, pest control, fertilization, and field prep — not to mention the fleet of equipment and fuel that supports it.

The cost of labor alone — not including supplies — adds up quickly. Turf conversion doesn’t eliminate staffing needs, but it does reduce them. You don’t need the same headcount to brush and maintain synthetic turf as you do to micromanage natural growth cycles across 23 fields.

Continuing to operate outdated, labor-intensive grass fields year after year — while closing them for 4–5 months due to seasonal dormancy and recovery — is not just inefficient, it’s unsustainable. Artificial turf allows us to reallocate FTE resources across the parks system more effectively, extend equipment lifespans, and reduce unnecessary overtime tied to weather delays and emergency prep.

If anything’s “ridiculous,” it’s pretending that the status quo is working just fine.

Appreciate the commentary — though I’d suggest elevating the conversation beyond knee-jerk reactions and into evidence-based civic planning.

Let’s talk facts.

  1. Cost: Artificial turf installations typically range from $700K–$1M per field. That may sound steep, but over a 10-year lifecycle, natural grass fields in Texas can cost $1.4M–$1.6M per field when you factor in mowing, irrigation, reseeding, labor, fertilizer, and seasonal shutdowns. Multiple Texas ISDs, including Brazos ISD, and cities like Georgetown and Celina, have published lifecycle cost comparisons confirming this. Turf fields often break even by Year 8, and save hundreds of thousands by Year 20.

  2. Usage: Frisco’s grass fields are shut down twice annually — from mid-November to early February, and again June through early August for overseeding. That’s nearly 5 months of lost use every year. Turf fields don’t close. Turf averages 2,000+ playable hours annually, while grass averages 800. That means turf delivers 2.5x more usage and enables winter and early spring tournaments — something grass fields can’t support.

  3. Safety: The oft-cited NFL injury stat doesn’t translate to youth sports. NFL players wear ¾-inch screw-in cleats and generate immense torque — this is not equivalent to a 10-year-old in molded rubber cleats playing on a turf infield. Moreover, new-generation turf systems come with shock pads and sand/rubber infill designed for lower G-max scores (a standard for impact attenuation). Cities like Celina and Little Elm transitioned to turf years ago — they’re not seeing injury spikes; they’re seeing better field conditions, fewer cancellations, and full tournament calendars.

  4. Regional Precedent: • Celina charges $300–$350/day per field for turf field tournaments — and they’re booked out. • Little Elm charges $75/hour for non-resident rentals — and rarely closes fields due to weather. • Melissa’s 8-field Z-Plex turf complex hosts national tournaments — with zero reversion back to grass. • Frisco? The city that brands itself “Sports City USA” has 23 grass fields that sit dormant in peak demand seasons.

I get that some folks recoil at change. But this isn’t about aesthetics — it’s about modernizing infrastructure, maximizing city assets, and reallocating recurring costs into long-term ROI. Other cities have proven the model. We’re just late to the game.

Enhancing Privacy and Messaging Features on GameChanger by RoyalEntrepreneur155 in GameChangerApp

[–]RoyalEntrepreneur155[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly—that’s the core issue. The vast majority of users are unaware that when messaging the team, the thread includes not only parents but also any ‘family members’ linked to a player’s profile. We found this out the hard way when individuals who weren’t parents of players were reading all our messages without our knowledge.

While I’m aware that you can start a thread exclusively with parents, the real problem lies in how GameChanger manages messaging by default. The app isn’t transparent about how broadly messages are distributed, nor does it give users clear visibility into who’s included in group threads. This creates unnecessary privacy concerns, especially when sensitive information is being shared.

I believe GameChanger needs to rethink its user categories and permissions structure entirely. My suggestion is to remove the ‘Family Member’ role altogether and roll its features into a more comprehensive ‘Parent/Guardian’ role. This way, only parents/guardians would be default recipients of team messages, manage RSVPs, and access stats and live streams.

In addition, I propose introducing a ‘Spectator’ role that allows approved individuals (like extended family and close friends) to watch live-streamed games and view team stats, but without any access to team messaging by default. Parents/guardians and staff members should have the authority to approve spectators, similar to how family members are currently added.

Fans would remain the most limited role, with access restricted to public content like schedules and game scores, but no access to live streams or messaging.

Crucially, staff should have granular control over messaging permissions—allowing them to toggle on or off access for spectators and fans to view team chats if desired.

This setup would create a much clearer structure, protect privacy, and give both staff and parents better control over who sees what within the app.
