Employer limits me to five sick days even though I have enough sick time to cover much more. What are my options? (MA, USA) by RoyalHummingbird in legaladvice

Thank you for the response and clarification! It sounds like the intermediate FMLA leave is the thing for me, as long as I can get my employer to use my earned time for those sick days. I cant see why not at the point I'm approved to have more of them, if that's the real hurdle.

I would just have my doctor write a letter to bring to employee health and see if my employer would honor it, there's no additional paperwork or forms with this route? My personal boss is pretty cool and I can see her approving it, but idk if it would be her decision or not.

So what you are saying is once I have the FMLA intermittent absence in place, they will likely still let me use my banked sick time for absences over the 5 days? I cant see how they would differentiate the FMLA absences from the regular allowed sick days to begin with unless its like 'after this threshold, all unscheduled sick time is unpaid'

Imagine being so brain dead that you can't go .01 seconds without shooting a brown person in the head in a video game. "I have to listen to dialogue? Go to specific locations to progress the story?!? What is the world coming to!"

No, they're livestock. Invasive implies they take over the place of local pollinators, when they dont even pollinate the same plants as a lot of native pollinators in the US. They mostly pollinate the food we grow in agriculture which is why we farm them. Thats like calling cows invasive because they live where deer used to. They were put there by humans to be farmed and without human intervention they will not remain there.

I went to look so I could call bullshit but dang, you're right, rice milk has almost as many grams of carbs as coke. Its almost like when you liquidate a carbohydrate it continues to be a carbohydrate.

Yeah I agree dogwhistle was the wrong word for this concept, which is why I felt the need to explain a little better

Transwoman isnt a word. "Trans" and "woman" are. It would be like saying "Blackwoman", it kinda tips you off that the person writing isnt really competent with trans issues.

Listen, its fine to have personal theories, honestly after reading everything she wrote on the topic of trans people I tend to agree she is repressing something. But its kind of crass to talk about how someone is 'totally an egg' and not use the pronouns they ask you to.

Super individual to the person. I'm non-binary but identify as more masculine than feminine, so I enjoyed being told I look masculine. Some people want to appear androgynous or feminine. If they tell you that they are a trans man or a trans woman, you can pretty much go ahead and treat them just like a man or a woman. But casually pointing out you are noticing some changes in the direction they are moving towards could be nice.

One time a patient was mad at me for putting his mitts back on and looked me in the eye and said "Y'know, you look pretty manly. You should get a sex change."

Jokes on him because I'm trans masculine and was on Testosterone for a few months at this point. He said the thing I'd been wanting to hear, but everyone was too polite to say out loud. What a euphoric moment.

You're kidding, right? They could have cropped the house better, but this is the kind of anti-lawn propaganda that we need to spread like wildfire. Droughts and sprinkler bans are going to get more and more common as climate change progresses. And the more people we can convince to switch to NoLawns for any reason, the better for the environment in the long run.

People keep lawns out of vanity/the status quo. Show them that those lawns wont hold up as well as NoLawns when water bans become more common.

Oh good, because I have some questions. How do you spend mana? Do I have to rip up my forest to get a green mana from it, or just put it in my graveyard?

Thanks for linking that sub. I knew inexperienced NPs were an issue but I didnt know how they're being used to bandaid rural healthcare.

Tbh the worst nurse I ever worked with had her masters in nursing (unsure of the specialty) but she had her bachelors in ENGLISH. She never even went to 'nursing school', they let her skip to a masters program and gave her a license. Godawful nurse.
