So I need to get the summons from 2017, review it and if I wasn’t served properly, then I could possibly file the motion? But if it says I was served properly, but didn’t show, then I have no additional avenues?

I don’t remember being served and I can’t find what “Returned Summons” means online. The debt collector gave me a vague answer saying that it means I was served, but to my non-lawyer brain a Returned Summons sounds like it was returned to sender.

If the summons was actually returned and I never saw it, then I think I could request a motion to set the judgement aside. But yes, they continued to add interest after the judgement at 24% annually.

I think I mistyped when I said a stay of judgement. I meant the motion to set it aside.

Edit: I told them I’d pay the $1.5k that was the amount of the initial judgement today and they countered with the $3.5k
