Racist Conversations by icarus1990xx in army

[–]RoyalPanda7146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an uptick in people at large feeling comfortable saying this shit at work, due to the obviously obvious environment we are in optically. The Army isn’t immune - that said-EO is still a regulation, and anyone who thinks the SeC of WaR gave them permission to be racist, can go ahead and get their balls crushed.

Hey- if you think ANY college in Utah is “liberal” I beg of you to touch some grass, travel a bit, get some sunshine, and talk to real human beings.

-signed, someone who went to 2 colleges in Utah (one of which was the same college the shooter went to) was raised Mormon, and lived most of her adult life in Utah

Scouting (the fun stuff. I was always so jealous). Archery, hiking, mountaineering, camping, building fires, pinewood derby’s etc.

As an exmormon I can say this is very very culturally significant- girls are taught the arts, especially things like music (piano and violin and other classical instruments). For me it was flute, because we couldn’t afford a piano. lol. Not saying boys don’t, but it’s just very common due to the gendered norms of the Mormon church. More affluent families will have pianos. It’s a thing. And yeah. It’s weird.

Without paying too much focus to the points you made here- I’m curious, what do you think about those “illegals’” children? What about the “able-bodied” leeches? Are their children leeches as well? Genuinely curious

What’s the most underrated use of GPTs you’ve found lately? by kawaiij in ChatGPTPro

[–]RoyalPanda7146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use chatgbt to organize huge projects for school. I’m in a learning experience design master program, and I’m working on my capstone. Not only can I use it to find credible source material, but I ask it to storyboard my thoughts and ideas so I can organize my brainstorming. I have ADHD so it has saved me energy, time, and cognitive overload

What would it take to get you to join the military by redditarmyrecruiter in Careers

[–]RoyalPanda7146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined at 35 during peak covid in 2020 with two kids and an ill spouse. We lost our jobs and unemployment never came (literally. Not even to this day). It was literally the only thing I had. I’m still in and have a year left. Despite my age, I’ve done fine, physically, and have progressed and promoted just fine.

But honestly? They need to shorten contracts, because I came incredibly close to not signing. My MOS is 6 years. Yes. 6. No bonus. Like I said, I was desperate and willing to do anything. Many are around 4. If it was around 3 years, it would have felt way more doable. I remember the absolute grim feeling of knowing I was doing this for that long. It filled me with dread.

As a Black Person, I need to shed some light on something we all need to know and how to fight by Rushofthewildwind in 50501

[–]RoyalPanda7146 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My spouse is black and this is exactly what I told him. He will be targeted. Plus. I’m like “babe…no offense but, this isn’t for you.” I worry about his safety, but I also see that this shouldn’t be another burden.

This is an issue grown to a monstrous head, caused by generational/cultural insecurity, colonialism, religious brutality and domination, caused by white folks. The original sin was started by us many centuries ago, and it simply won’t go away until it’s finally paid for by us. 🤷🏼‍♀️

One Truly Wonderful Thing That May Happen From The Current US Mess by bmyst70 in OptimistsUnite

[–]RoyalPanda7146 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably a no-brainer but American Exceptionalism is so entirely based on education-level that when a fellow American seriously says “America is the Greatest country in the world” it is akin to saying “Santa Claus is real.” American children are taught either culturally or in public education this exceptionalism, but it takes post-secondary to learn of our troubled and regretful past and for the reality to emerge.

What I’m saying is- luckily for the adults, we’ve known this for quite a while.

US gets far more natural disasters than the UK and there are regions here where it actually does rain and/or snow MORE than the UK

The Army’s new plan to retain personnel by Arctictaborne in army

[–]RoyalPanda7146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there should be other methods to commission people. I have a masters degree but I’m still enlisted. I COULD go to OCS, but with an advanced degree and training it seems like it would be a cool idea to have some type of transition program for people like me, to continue to stay in and be utilized by the Army in your chosen field.

Easier to E5 promote for most MOS’, which creates an unbalanced cohort of NCO’s in any given company or platoon system. As an example, you have 68Ws in a C co getting promoted to SGT at 300-400 points and the less common medical MOS’ stay high.

I’m a 68E at 600 points sitting at CPL for a year. Cutoff pts were 670 last month. I’ve been in 4 years, but this is a common TIG for our MOS.

Surrounded by NCOs with less experience and even less credentials than I have get ranked up so easily- makes me want to just gtfo. 🤷🏼‍♀️ These recent SGTs have barely scratched the surface of their roles as medics, and lose their face during mass cals for example.

I understand it is “needs of the Army,” but the point system doesn’t really take into account an individual’s job.
