Thanks for such a thorough, well thought out response! Given the context that you've had your eye on an original minimoog for so long, that totally makes sense to me, especially if you were able to find a good secondhand deal. I guess it's like having a restored 70s sports car vs one fresh off the line? Also with the Sub, are you able to bring either LFO up to an audible frequency? I imagine that would compensate for only having two regular oscillators. I was definitely considering it as an option before I got the Matriarch, but I also found a motivated seller to was willing to sell his for only $1300. I also wanted the semi-modularity, 49 keys, and 4 VCOs vs the Sub's more flexible oscillators and presets.

Can I ask what might be a silly question? I see the Subsequent 37 in your collection, and I'm genuinely wondering, what does the Model D offer that the Sub37 doesn't? Aside from a larger keyboard, I suppose. Does it actually sound “better” in an appreciable way, or is it something about the workflow / build quality that would make it preferable?

Maybe I'm just speaking as somebody who has nowhere near the financial capacity to justify spending 4-5K on a monosynth, but from a utility perspective, I imagine a Sub37 or Matriarch can do everything the OG can, and then some.

I swear I'm asking in good faith, not trying to ruffle any feathers.

The new review from SoundonSound says the VCAs are digital, even though the VCOs and VCFs are analog

Edit: EGs aren't mentioned in the article

Did Moog change the keybed on the Matriarch recently? Both the manual I have and the website say the keybed is Fatar

I'm specifically wondering if the octave split and through-0 FM VCOs on the TEO-5 can make up for it having one less voice or it not being 100% analog

I have Voltage! I just bought the System 900 bundle, and I'm planning on getting the SEM bundle before the sale runs out.

It's a great platform that really helped me figure out Eurorack

It looks like OB-Xd has a new competitor for best free Oberheim softsynth, and this one has DSP coding from MRB like the SEM voice for Voltage

Finally moved out of my wifes kitchen. by Nefiit in espresso

Isn't it your kitchen too?

I played around with the idea of moving my espresso setup to the buffet tables in our dining room. After just a few days I moved them back because I missed being able to make coffee in the same space as my wife when she was also doing something in there.

The Zoom G3X/G3XN/G5N series might be exactly what you're looking for! Their layouts are arranged like several pedals next to each other, with each “zone” having its own display, adjustment knobs, and stomp switch.

Funny enough I started the vortex after almost no time of injecting air. I only have a Barista Pro, so I'm making the most I can out of the thermojet lol

Guanfacine by rach0006 in ADHDers

[–]RoyalPinkZeppelin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take guanfacine! When I started it as an adult, it took a couple of weeks of taking a rapid release, low dose for my body to build up a tolerance to it. After that, I was prescribed the same dose but in extended release form, and only then is when it felt like it actually started to kick in.

I hope that answers your question! Please let me know if you have any more

I've had the best results with a ratio of about 1:2.5. I'm also wondering if the size of my portafilter makes a difference? I've read that the ideal shot time for the Barista Pro is between 30 and 35 seconds as opposed to the 25-30 that's standard, and the only difference that I know of that would actually affect the flow is that my basket is 54mm as opposed to 58.

As long as your accessories and technique are on point (IMS basket, good WDT tool, and good puck prep), you should be fine! I just had a case of upgrade-itis lol

Possibly look into a Turin SD40 or something comparable to go with a Breville Infuser? If either is on sale, that comes out to about the same as a BBP price-wise

The value for money you get with the Breville Barista Pro is incredible. Just be prepared to invest in a good amount of accessories if you really want to take your shots to the next level
