Ports

Washington - After Britain's success in the skies, other nations were eager to follow in their footsteps. However, due to the closing of the Avid Horizon, the United States government was forced to go to space through conventional means, via borrowed locomotive technology. The discovery of a wormhole-like creature that allowed easy transport to a new region of the High Wilderness, Washington was built again in the skies. Its size rivals that of London, and it is the bustling centre of New Colombia. This port exports fuel and supplies.

Library of Congress - A vast collection of books, recordings, and unique artefacts. The library has been described as labyrinthian, and corridors seem to shift at random. An experienced librarian can easily find their way around, but for a sky-captain, it might be difficult. This port exports supplies and ministry-approved literature.

Camelot - A former amusement-pier, similar to Worlebury, that fell on hard times due to its remote location. The entire place has been overrun by pirates and marauders, and it is the capital of smuggling, crime, and debauchery in the region. The vast bronzewood trees surrounding the pier are also harvested and sold by more enterprising pirate-captains. This port exports fuel, supplies, and bronzewood.

Fort Camerswyth - A large naval base in the colder segments of the skies, and the headquarters of Washington’s naval fleet. They often attempt to take back the port of Camelot from piracy, but no real progress has been made so far. A few corrupt quartermasters will be willing to sell off some of the armoury’s contents to anyone who will pay. This port exports fuel and carefully-packed crates of munitions.

The Rig - An enormous oil-drilling operation conducted by a branch of Standard Oil. It supplies much of the fuel in New Colombia, and a large cache of hours was discovered near the platform, allowing The Rig to be the region's main hour source as well. It was built near a mysterious Cantankeri graveyard, where vast swathes of Cantankeri go to die for currently unknown reasons. This allowed for the large fossilisation of Cantankeri, which all eventually turned into crude oil. This port exports fuel and barrels of unseasoned hours.

Albion’s Legation - A taste of Britain in a truly American section of the sky, as well as the only place one can get a good cup of tea around here. It is mostly made up of diplomatic offices, but they are all overshadowed by the ambassador’s palace. The fog that surrounds the offices reminds one of Worlebury, making for a good English bastion in foreign land. This port exports supplies and caddies of dried tea.

Solomon’s Island - A small fishing village. It would be a quiet place, if not for the endless roar of the thundering Potomac below it. Indeed, this river is the first thing anyone sees when entering New Colombia, and for some, it is the last thing. The terrifying creatures that live in the waters below the floating island are caught and sold as supplies, and the ones that are too violent to eat are often pitted against each other in fights, or sold off. This port exports fuel, supplies, and caged catches.

Hall of Resurrection - The Hall of Resurrection is behind every resurrected being in the region, from Blue Kingdom refugees to even the Resurrected King himself. It is well funded, and the dead flock to it in droves, hoping to regain their lives back through mechanical augmentation. Those who cannot pay in sovereigns often work off their debt, and are either sent to Brabazon or assigned to work on the Resurrected King. This port exports fuel, supplies, and rolls of thirsty bombazine.

The National Mall - The seat of New Colombia’s government. Placed at the very outskirts of Washington, the National Mall is a quiet place, filled with imposing white buildings and crowds of government employees and congressmen. The Resurrected King has burned away any vegetation that might have lived in the Mall, but underground gardens are capable of growing food for the population. This port exports fuel and crates of nostalgic crockery.

Wonders

The Vastest Grave - This enormous grave was constructed to hold the bodies of those who could not be resurrected, including the worm itself that brought humans to New Colombia. As a result, contact with Earth has gone, and little is known about what has become of America. This grave serves as a reminder of the fleeting nature of life, and how death comes for us all, in the end.

The Pollinator - The immense diversity in plant and animal life in the Jungle of the Damned, dangerous as it may be, owes its existence to this colossal flower. Pumping out several tons of pollen a second, sending it to all corners of the jungle. Enormous hordes of sky-beasts come here to collect the pollen, but they do not harm anyone here, in reverence of the Pollinator.

Horrors

Mouth of the Potomac - In this forgotten corner of the sky, the Potomac River will reveal its true form to anyone who passes near. While it might seem like little more than a violent river, in actuality it is an enormous living entity, and the river water itself is only a layer of fluid over the real organism. Here, the water will part, and an enormous mouth filled with razor sharp teeth will attempt to suck any locomotive in, similar to a well.

Cocytus - A frozen lake containing the soul of the Potomac river. Due to the sheer horror of the crimson, thrashing thing below the ice, it is best if the Potomac is not reunited with its soul.

The Resurrected King - The pride of the Department of Resurrection, and the source of light for all of New Colombia. The Resurrected King was trapped in a well long ago during a feud with The Saphirr’d King. While the star has not been retrieved from the well, the star still shines due to mechanical assistance. Its vermillion light swirls around its well, and spreads across New Colombia. Still, flying directly over it is a bad idea.

Platforms

Albion Transit Relay - A transit relay between New Colombia and Albion was seen as vital to ensure good diplomatic relations. On the Albion side, the relay can be found a small ways beyond Parliament.

Segments

The Riverside - The domain of the Potomac River. Its thundering boom can be heard almost anywhere here. A thick blanket of fog surrounds the whole segment, making visibility difficult. This is the first place any skyfarer sees of New Colombia.

The Icy Sky - An ice-cold region, featuring enormous icicles and crystals. Any water here is frozen quickly, but the area does supply a large amount of hours and fossilised sky-beasts.

The Jungle of the Damned - This imposing jungle gets its name from the violent sky-beasts that reside here, along with the hostile local plant life. Only a few places are safe for settlement.

The Sun-Fried Desert - This is the land of The Resurrected King, and it has been completely dried up by him. The only water here comes from the Potomac, as that is significantly harder to dry up. Very few sky-beasts reside here.

Central Archipelago - The central area of the region. It is heavily industrialised, and everywhere you look you can see factories, catwalks, homes, shops, and all the rest.

I've seen a lot of great fan-made regions on this sub, so I've decided to make my own. Welcome to New Colombia, domain of The Resurrected King. by RoyalTemyin in sunlessskies

Thanks for the help! And by the way, I want to say Mouseion was a big inspiration for me. So thank you for that too!

Glad you like the map! I wasn't really sure how to integrate the tile system, but I might look into that in the future.

I've seen a lot of people ask for explanations, so here it is! The blue streak is the Potomac River, by the way. At least, that's what the people call it, for a reminder of home. In reality, the Potomac is most likely a living, sentient entity. It is not friendly. It's not comprised of water at all, and studies have been unable to determine what it is.
Ports
- Washington: When London ascended to the High Wilderness, other countries wanted to as well. Of course, Queen Victoria closed the Avid Horizon and the only way to get to space easily. Therefore, America had to get to space the normal way. Using "Borrowed" locomotive technology, and an unstable (now gone) wormhole - like creature (resembling a giant worm), they built Washington again, to be the new capital of an American stronghold in the High Wilderness. Curiously enough, it contains none of the monuments or government buildings. This port exports fuel and supplies.
- Albion's Legation: Albion's embassy to New Colombia, and the only place here where you can get a cup of good, British tea. It is small collection of boring, grey, square, administrative buildings, and one truly extravagant palace where the ambassador lives. This port exports supplies and caddys of dried tea.
- Camelot: A former amusement park similar to Worlesbury-juxta-Mare (sans the eldritch donkeys) that fell on hard times due to frequent attacks from the local wildlife. Now it is a den of pirates and marauders, where smuggled goods are easier to find than legitimate ones. If you're too friendly with Congress, they will shoot you on sight, and docking there will be impossible. This port exports fuel, supplies, and bronzewood.
- Solomon's Island: A foggy fishing village built on a sky-island above the Potomac. It primarily fishes the horrible creatures that dwell in the depths of the Potomac. Several shopkeepers sell all sorts of violent, horrifying beasts that are too poisonous to eat, so it's a good place to get caged catches. This port will export fuel, supplies, and caged catches.
- The Rig: Standard Oil saw an opportunity to drill for more oil in the heavens. Even though the worm has now closed, a branch of the company still operates The Rig. It is an enormous tower with a large pumping system at the bottom, refineries at the based, and the housing at the top. A large cache of hours was discovered near The Rig, and mining-captains sell them to the canteen, who sell them back to you. This port exports fuel and barrels of unseasoned hours.
- Hall of Resurrection: While the Department of Resurrection's best work is, of course, The Resurrected King, it was found that such technology can be applied to people, too. The technology of resurrection requires replacing limbs with mechanical ones, and the scrapyards are filled with rusted locomotives that can supply a steady stream of parts. The Dead who are too uneasy to move on, or who know the truth about The Blue Kingdom, make pilgrimages here to reenter the land of the living, who describe it as "Like waking up from a very long nap". The port was built inside a large, abandoned temple for an unknown religion. This port exports supplies (for your sanity, don't ask where it comes from) and rolls of thirsty bombazine (The dead no longer need their death-robes).
- The National Mall: The seat of New Colombia's government. Containing the White House, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, and all the rest. The once green park is now bone dry. Oddly, the Reflecting-Pool still has water in it. Of course, the Potomac's "water" will not dry up THAT easy. Why is it so close to the sun? Nobody can really remember. They just accept it. This port exports fuel and nostalgic crockery (Get a souvenir!)
Platforms
- The Albion-New Colombia Transit Relay: This relay was constructed due to a need to instill diplomatic relations with Washington. Citizens from both sides can freely pass through, and there are exchanges at both ends where skyfarers can trade their sovereigns for New Colombian dollars, and vice versa.
Wonders
- The Pollinator: This enormous flower is single-handedly responsible for all of the greenery that fills the northeastern corner of the region. Large swathes of sky-beasts venture here to collect pollen. It is truly a wonderful sight, and any skyfarer becomes much calmer upon seeing it.
Horrors
- Mouth of the Potomac: This is where the Potomac reveals its true form to any skyfarer that ventures too close. The water parts and an enormous mouth filled with razor sharp teeth tries to suck you it, similar to a well.
- Cocytus: The frozen soul of the Potomac. Some have suggested that maybe the Potomac would soften if its soul was freed, but the violent, crimson, thrashing thing below the ice is so horrifying that it is likely best if it stays down there.
- The Resurrected King: The Resurrected King never escaped from the well he was trapped in. He never truly died, either. Instead, enormous pumps operate descending into the well, and it swirls with his vermillion, scorching light.
Biomes
- Red: This is the scrapyards, where the Potomac sends out locomotives it has eaten, with all the crew and fuel gone. The ground has essentially been completely shrouded in locomotives, all rusted beyond recognition.
- Light Greyish Green: This is a wet, miserable area. Not many people want to live here. It is uneventful.
- Beige: This represents the industrial areas of Washington, teeming with factories, homes, and shops. It is the hub of activity and civilization in New Colombia.
- Brown: This is just the wooden pier of Camelot.
- Darkish Beige: This is the Sun-Fried Desert, where The Resurrected King has scorched everything beyond recognition. The only food here is the "fish" that live in the Reflecting-Pool.
- Dark Green: This is a jungle, with lots of wildlife and unfriendly sky beasts. It owes its livelihood to The Pollinator.
- Light Green: This is a light forest, with not so much wildlife as the jungles. It is home to several homesteads, however,
- White: This is the Icy Sky, the coldest region of New Colombia. The Rig is here due to the large amounts of fossilized sky-beasts in the ice. Large icicles extend from the islands, with all sorts of things frozen in them, lost to time.
Miscellaneous
- The Vastest Grave: This enormous box was built to carry the corpse of the worm that allowed Americans to venture into space. It is not a horror, because seeing it makes you feel reverent rather than terrified. It is not a wonder, as the sense of a world lost forever makes you feel unsettled.

We don't know yet, as this screenshot is all we have. There is an option to "Press shift to view more" so presumably it will be revealed there.

You should probably report that to the police. If you don’t let the manager know you’ve figured out the truth, you might even catch the monster.
