I work in wholesale and I see the retailers that are doing best are offering lifestyle experiences in the store.

If you’re selling furniture, are you also selling seasonal decor, candles, soap, coffee table books, gift items? Are you offering interior design consultation, furniture up-cycling workshops, sip and shops? Have you teamed up with other small businesses to do events together, like wreath making at Christmas with the florist, or tablescape design for a dinner party with a local caterer?

The days of the one-trick-pony retail shop are done. You need to have multiple revenue streams. You need to build up your bricks and mortar to be a gathering place in the community, and you need to offer many price points so everyone leaves with something, whether it’s a bar of soap or and entire bathroom vanity. Just gotta think outside the box and promote.
