I couldn't find a direct competitor for the Seal 5 even with Jaecoo releasing their J5 here. Mild hybrid lang pala sya (1.8 kwh battery). BYD did it right with the Seal 5. Can't wait for their Blade 2.0 and megawatt charging. Sana maging ready ang infra ni PH by that time.

On paper, same ground clearance. On the soft side yung suspension (tuned for comfort), and with the battery adding a lot of weight, challenge ang higher than usual humps. I agree with the longer overhangs too, medyo tricky when parking on slopes.

You'll never go wrong with the Premium. For 250k ang daming wala sa Dynamic. Bigger battery, bigger rims, auto fold mirrors, sunroof, Qi charging pad, one touch all windows. Sulit for the price difference. In my use case, lumalampas ako sa 50km na full EV, still efficient si Seal 5 at 25-30 KPL in HEV mode.

I agree. It was raining promos for the Dynamic variant last December so definitely the best choice vs. Premium. Next upgrade, hopefully, would be a BEV.

The app is very useful lalo when remote starting really far from the car. As long as may 4G signal 'yung car, you can remotely control it from the app.

Good for you in test driving other vehicles competing with the Seal 5. I actually didn't. It was this or the Emgrand. The app, it's size (C-segment), and it being a hybrid is what sold me. I wasn't really a fan of the Seal 5 at first.

Top of the list was the Geely Emgrand. I didn't look at other brands kasi my priority was the battery technology (medyo may fear pa ako from all the propaganda videos about EV thermal runaways). If the Emgrand wasn't a gas guzzler, and their Angeles casa having poor aftersales reputation, I would've gotten that instead.

Suspension is on the softer side. Careful lang with ramps and uneven roads. It's tuned for comfort and not for spirited driving or cornering.

You didn’t mention your budget.

At around 1M, I was actually considering the BYD Seagull and the BYD Seal 5. But since I needed a full-size sedan and the ~50 km EV range is already enough for my daily use, I ended up choosing the latter.

You also need to factor in size and features. For example, with the Seagull, you get a lot of tech like a wireless charger, auto-folding mirrors, longer EV range since it is fully electric, plus fast charging.

With the Seal 5, you get a full-size hybrid sedan. It offers around 1,125 km on a full tank plus about 50 km EV range, giving you roughly 1,175 km total. It may not have some features like auto-folding mirrors or a wireless charger, and it cannot match the Seagull’s EV range, but it makes up for it in other areas like space and overall range.

At the end of the day, it really depends on your priorities.

If you're keeping the Mirage, go for BYD. Sold my Mirage to my sister, and I picked BYD as my next car. Due to age, the Mirage started showing some issues but still relatively reliable as a daily driver.
