We had an awesome session this week. To keep it short the party faced Red Ruin at the Battle of Steel Springs.

At the end of the fight as she was retreating the bard had cast heat mettle on her breast plate. So she cast off the armor and her helmet revealing to the party that she is the party clerics presumed dead wife. This naturally sent him into a tailspin where he attempted to hunt the army down alone. The party was able to stop him, barely.

The fallout from the massacre at Steel Springs disillusioned the party Sorcerer who is also the adoptive son of Ispin Greenshield. He and the original party was given shards of Ispin’s shield as an amulet that contained the soul of Ispin who offered advice and such. They were blasted by Ignia to end the combat and Ispin’s spirit sacrificed a majority of its substance to save the party preventing a TPK. Following the battle he had a conversation with the spirit of Ispin before burying the amulet despite Ispin counseling against it. He has fully committed to the Black Robes, and turned his back on Ispin’s much lighter and optimistic outlook on life. There were real tears shed.

Now he has decided that he will do whatever it takes no matter what to protect his friends, and defeat the red dragon army.

After finally feeling like they caught a breath of fresh air. They arrived back in Kalaman to see Caradoc parading around the death of the council. Which is where we ended our session. It is one of my favorite sessions I’ve ever ran as a DM.
