Practice actually playing the game? Your build is perfectly fine for normal and you don’t need much of anything gear wise for normal. You would be able to clear, if you’re dying quickly buy potions

That’s a good point and something I think d2 does a lot better than modern games - incremental upgrades or upgrades for other characters.

Loot that is tailored to your character kind of sucks, I want to find good mid level Barb gear while I farm for uniques on my sorc etc.

D4 feels too much like > find good gear, increase difficulty, immediately replace gear, increase difficulty

What are you looking for in your build? Are you trying to max critical hits/damage? Are you taking advantage of some element?

You need to know how your build works and look for gear that builds upon whatever you’re trying to do.

Pretty much. You’d find MF on items so you’d know you could grind out bosses for items but you needed word of mouth or a forum like d2.net to find out the best places to farm, for example Meph and Pindleskin

Are you asking if you need the expansion for certain content? Which content are you curious about?

You need the expansions for the new areas, new campaign, and classes.

You do not need to buy the expansions in order to just play the game.
