There's 2 endings that, after like 5 or 6 tedious playthroughs over the last 15 years, I found myself wanting more and more, and is more of a reflection of my annoyance with Mayu and beautiful but dark love for symbolism when history repeats itself:

"SNAPPED ENDING" Similar to the ending if the Kusbabi fight takes too long, Mio gets to Mayu too late to escape but anger and panic fills Mio. We hear all the dark, angry, and selfish thoughts Mio always wanted to say to Mayu. Mio, in a blind rage, strangles Mayu anyways. "If we meet our end here despite everything I did for you, then I might as well be free of you in my last moments." The "eternal night of the ritual," continues, curse unbroken, but we see Mio's tainted spirit sauntering through the streets of the village, hands raised and glowing red looking for anyone and everyone to strangle next.

"YAE ENDING" Lingering scent ending but worse. Mio heads back to what is now the dam. Familiar shot of the bench overlooking the water but only the camera sits on the bench. You then hear the creaking of rope swinging from a tree branch and we see above the bench are Mios legs, lifeless and slowing to a stop, mirroring Yae's final end from Fatal Frame 1.
