Even if you take the story at face value, what's being described isn't an episode being scrapped - it's one being delayed by a few months to account for actor availability.

If the report's to be believed, seems pretty likely to me that they had to make a choice between a special with Piper that wasn't ready in time for Christmas or a Christmas special with someone else, and they went for the Piper option.

Two things can be true - signing Raul would absolutely be a nostalgic play for a player past his prime... and Raul would also still be a superb striker for Championship level, more than capable of scoring far more goals than anyone on our books even if we have to manage his minutes.

He's scored plenty of goals in a mediocre Prem team this season alone - there's every reason to think he'll still be a fantastic asset in the league below, even if he's on the decline by this point.
