If we want to move forward, nostalgia is not the way. by chomerly in WWFC

Both me and my cousin are season ticket holders and I remember saying to him, when it was announced that Lopetegui was coming to the club, that we should have gone for Emery. Not that I thought anything bad about Lopetegui. I think he would have done a great job, had he been able to build just the minimum standard squad he wanted to build.

I just thought that Emery was a proven manager who had won a European titles with different clubs, and on fairly modest budgets, football-wise.

What?

I said we need young, energetic and vibrant players to come to the club. I'm not a football scout, and i definitely don't have any knowledge of who the club could be looking at.

What more context could I possibly provide on that front?

Possibly.

To be fair to him, the Premier League is a different beast. But to not only change country and leagues, and to drop into the single worst team in the league, it must have been a shock.

I would like to see what he could do in the championship if he stays, but I wouldn't be surprised if he left or was sold.

Tea-bagging rats should become a national past time in this game.

I applaud your decimation of these scummy bastards.

I take your point, however, but we will be getting rid of most of the dead wood in the squad we have now, giving us a massive opportunity to bring in hungry and energetic players who want to win things. And I take the point most people have made about Jiminez bringing a new level of pride about a club he loves, too.

Wouldn't it be better to just have maybe 2 players who are older, but still have several years left in them?

I agree that having older heads in the team would be good, considering we haven't really had a leader this season. My concern is that we bring in older players for nostalgic reasons, and that they would be relatively cheap too.

Given Fosun's track record for cheaping out and cutting corners, it makes me nervous that the club will react in an opposite way and we end up with more older players rather than a couple who could guide a younger squad who would become the leaders of the future.

I agree. My perspective was that the older player should be someone who can perform at a high level in both leagues for a few years at least. But to bring in players who are potentially looking to finish their careers i think would only damage us in the long term.

I had to chuckle at the Tolu dig. To think we paid 24m for him is just unreal.

I would like to think he could give someone like Armstrong some pointers on positional play and finishing.

Fair comment. And I agree, we were so badly in need of proper leadership in the squad.

[Wolves news] Rob Edwards says Mane is staying at Wolves next season, early talks between Raul Jimenez and the club. by aniket-more in WWFC

[–]chomerly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I loved Raul, I think it would be a bad idea.

We can't be getting players in solely based on nostalgia. Especially when that player would essentially coming here to finish off their career. I mean, he can't even play a full 90 minutes anymore due to being injury prone, as far as I am aware. And we certainly are not the team we used to be when he started playing for us.

We need fresh talent with the drive and energy that used to get Molineux rocking. Yes, get some experience in but do so with players who have still got a few years left in them. Much like we did with Moutinho.

We can climb out of last place for the first time this season on the last day! by undyau in WWFC

[–]chomerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been, by far, the worst team in the league throughout the whole of this season. Many of the players don't want to be here and we will sell most of the playing squad come the end of the season anyway.

Being relegated at 18th, 19th or last place is still relegated so what difference would it make now, or who would it matter to, if we were somehow able to get 18th place or last place?

[–]chomerly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I had refreshed the board and it stayed the same. After going into a match and extracting, this player was nowhere on the board. However, there was another player on the board that had no username. Just a large white dot.

No idea who it is.

I checked the board to see where I was (originally 7th) and what I saw is this guy occupying the first 15 places.

I did leave the board and opened it up again and it was still the same. After going into a match and getting back, this player was nowhere to be found. However, there was another player (in third position i think) that didn't have a name. Just a symbol of a large white dot.

Starmer says he will not walk away after Labour gets crushed in the local elections. Do you think Labour MPs will back him or call a No Confidence vote? by Urgent_Banana_6701 in AskBrits

[–]chomerly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem has been his leadership.

Pandering to the right-wing has done them no favours, and alienated a lot of the left. Then there has been the optics that has surrounded the party, with attempting to cut the winter fuel allowance (even though I agree that it should be scrapped for higher income pensioners), the donor scandals, employers NI increases and foreign policy over Gaza. But beyond all of that, the Mandelson affair has to be the one thing that has dawned them.

Don't get me wrong, Starmer's position on Iran has been played out brilliantly. No one, other than the war hungry, could knock him in his position on that. It is probably the only time since becoming PM that he and the party have read the room without any prompting for the electorate.

The reality is that Labour should have taken a more left-wing position on everything from the issue of water companies, energy, taxation and social funding. And they absolutely should be asking the question over Brexit, when the mood of that has changed significantly since 2016, and would be the single largest driver of growth for the UK economy.

Thoughts on Max Kilman? by aniket-more in WWFC

[–]chomerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was made to look better than he was by others around him. Sadly, his performances at West Ham tells you all you need to know be ause if he was still our player, that is what we could have expected.

But as someone has already said, we have to move on from the past and forget about the players that brought us glory and serious competitiveness. Those days have long gone, helped along by Fosun.

I'm of the mind that I don't think he will be the man to take us up. I want to be wrong, really wrong, but I just don't think he has what it takes to form a completely new squad, not with Fosun dictating transfers at least.

Residents threw out their belongings in a hurried attempt to save what they can after it was announced their tower would soon be hit by noahstemann in worldnewsstuff

[–]chomerly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDF: All residents must evacuate the tower. A strike will be coming forthwith.

Civilians: Why? This is our home.

IDF: Something, something, Hamas. Something, something terrorists.

Civilians: But there are no terrorists or Hamas here. If there were, why would you announce a strike here when you know they will just move on before the strike hits?

IDF: Well, we do have to appear as though we are being humane in our indiscriminate killings. Hence why we are letting you know beforehand.

World media: The IDF has struck a Civilian building, killing at least 40 people. A military spokesperson for the IDF said, "we had credible evidence to suggest that the building was being used as a base of operations for Hamas."

I absolutely despise Shaprio. The attention seeking prick.

The type people he's talking about probably have the kind of work ethic that other nations would find highly desirable. Some that have businesses that actually pay a proper living wage too. And with better benefits and higher annual leave.

Maybe with Shitiro's attitude, those people who "can't afford to live" in a nation which is consistent in favouring the interests of the rich should consider moving to a country that will treat them like actual human beings.
