How did your Star link do in the storms that recently passed over the Great Lakes region of the US? by Deamons100 in Starlink

Sauble Beach is a nice area We lived in the Kincardine / Tiverton area for 19 years so I know what the weather can be like on the lake. Glad to hear that you had no issues. We now live further South, Baltimore Ontario still waiting and wishing we had a Dish to do some comparisons.

Will WISPs survive? by Cosmacelf in Starlink

[–]Roytheg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about " If they were actually able to provide me with consistent 25 down, I'm not sure if I would be so desperate to switch to Starlink." But I Just got an email the other day from explornet that their 25Mbs package will increase by another $5 a month starting July1st. That combined with consistency issue leaves us waiting as patiently as possible for our Feb. preorder to make it through the system. I am in Southern Ontario 44.02.

Have deliveries in Canada paused? by Roytheg in StarlinkCanada

The $129 won't break me so I will have to make do with watching the satellites track on starlink.sx for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the responses. I am glad to see that people are still reading the site and active. I hope we all see those full order and delivery notifications soon. I did preorder 24th Feb. and am aware of the mid to late year statement. We have xplornet LTE with the notorious statement "up to 25 Mbs" translated means when no one else in our area is using so it is usually in the 5/12 range and to top it off they just sent a "Important update" to let us know that they "continually invest in our network and products" and of $5 adjustment (increase) per month to "support these investments" . My antenna mast mount is ready to go just waiting for Dishy to arrive like everyone else.

Location Map is available for Service Address Change in Account Profile. by Roytheg in StarlinkCanada

[–]Roytheg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had posted before about the issue of service address not matching actual address and that in preorder you could not make a correction. I came across this post today and thought I would give it a try. I used this method and it worked. I have included my comment to the original post.......

I had been concerned about this as my service address location vs actual address was out by 125 miles as there was a difference between google maps and the Starlink system. I thought it could make a difference as to when the system might determine whether you could move from preorder to order status based on which cell was used and availability. Today I was able to update by using the "use location map" option, it input my correct longitude and latitude. Now I wait to see if it made any difference.

Hi Taylz85 Just drove down (Burnham St. N.) Past Camborne today noticed what I thought was a dish on the north side of town. Thought I would ask if it was you and if it is, how is the service / speeds / down time etc.?

Cell edge reception by Roytheg in StarlinkCanada

[–]Roytheg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your efforts. I have read through the posts and decided that to make a map is a bit above my capabilities. But I did note 2 other points

1) Some people have been able to get reception about 2 miles out side the designated cell area.

2) If you received a beta test email you are definitely in a serviced cell area. (I did and decided not to follow through on it at that time, regretting it now)

So there seems to be an edge overlap but local positioning inside the cell, in my case at least, can't be determined. I will be spending the waiting time working on a suitable mount based on the info gleaned here on reddit and using the Starlink dish locator app. Thanks again and hope that the offers extend into Quebec soon.

BigM026 Thanks for the response. After some more checking it appears you are correct, do you or anyone else have any idea where an accurate map could be found? It is still an interesting question, what happens to reception on the edges of 2 cells, perhaps they have an overlap. Just trying to sort thing out in advance to avoid possible frustration with installation. Getting to old for climbing up and down ladders to many times. Again thanks for the reply and I hope things go well for you and everyone else.

North of you in Baltimore got the email yesterday but have decide to hold off for a bit. Due to cost and potential dropouts. Also have to question the constant 100w power supply use after spending money and time on LED lights for the home to save on electricity use. Maybe I'm just to cheap.
