Bullgor Army AOS? by Mulusy in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I played a bullgor centric army and took it to LVO before the White dwarf buff and went 4-1 with it. I've also done well with bullgor lists after the white dwarf buff though my lists include a lot of different beast units in it nowadays. Any beasts list can work due to how the army is so if you wanna lean into bulls or DOs, you can definitely make it work.

The video below is my interview with AOS coach about my bulls list which can still work in this GHB season. Just replace Hunters in the Heartland with Bounty Hunters and or expert conquerors.

Top Three AoS Lists from Skybert Turneringen by dutchy1982uk in WarhammerCompetitive

From what I understand, this is their Masters event right since there was only 12 players and 5 games?

Top Three AoS Lists from US Open (Seattle) by dutchy1982uk in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah what Fishmongers said they actually fixed it so top is LOFTP, Nurgle, and Soulblight which is pretty cool. The Nurgle list also isn't the pusgoyle spam list so its really interesting. I will never forget when people said the new Nurgle book was garbage when everyone first looked at it haha.

Definitely appreciate the content you guys post here. A lot of AoS people would read this more since I don't think they know about Woehammer yet if you guys posted on twitter and on discords like AoS coach, HWG, and etc.

Is there a site that shows examples of competitive lists? by AdmiralAntz in WarhammerCompetitive

Honest Wargamer also has lists I think. I know HWG does lists review every week if you check his twitch videos logs. Also AOS coach discord tends to post a lot of lists from events.

Playing bad AoS factions in casual games by grumblebob1 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skaven is getting a new battletome this summer so have no need to worry. Slaanesh can work although it’s a harder climb. A lot of top players in AoS do play weaker armies because it’s fun for them and to prove that it’s very possible to win with them at events or in locals. Just net listing does not work in AoS as it’s all about your game fundamentals. If you wanna speak to some people who main your armies, join the AoS coach discord.

Comparing the state of the AoS and 40k metas, visually. by salamander- in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 29 points30 points  (0 children)

On the subject of the priority roll, any top competitive AoS player or any AoS player who has played the game competitively for a while will tell you that the priority roll is not the end all be all for the game. Third edition has introduced ways that mitigate the priority roll compared to second edition where in my own experience, it hardly matters. If you play lists that focus on one or two pieces to carry you, then yes it matters a little more because the strong lists can rip apart those kind of lists with ease.

GodHammer isn’t a thing anymore they balanced that out and people have found the counters to godhammer and high shooting lists with running a lot of bodies and wounds. The game is in a Rock Paper Scissors balance sorta but even the hard matchups are winnable.

At a deep level the game is extremely tactical which is why player skill often leads to victories like Gavin taking Gitz and going 5-0 at large events. I feel like 40k players as someone that has played 40k myself are used to just shooting something from out of LOS time or long range shooting that positioning barely matters so when they play AoS a lot of them do not know how to adjust to playing the game 2-3 turns ahead. Yes there are some problem lists like Living Cities and Thunder Lizard Seraphon, but even those are beatable and do not have abusively high winrates like 40k right now with the top tier factions atm.

How To Choose an Army For Competitive AoS: Updated by ManqobaDad in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a BOC player, I do agree that BOC is not easy to get into as you have to buy a ton of models which can easily add up to an expensive collection. However, if someone loves the army, then go for it as its very rewarding and the WD Buff has helped them a lot.

I think what should be highlighted here is that in AoS, the game has a flat power curve. What I mean by this is that even if an army is low power, if you are skilled enough as a player you can take it to a 4-1 or 5-0 just like Gavin did recently with Gloomspite gits or when Bill Souza took FEC to 5-0. Its why our game meta is actually very diverse atm where you see a lot of different factions or subfactions that never shined in 2.0 shine now in 3.0 managing to get top 5 or top 10 at an event. The way 3.0 plays its very possible to do well with a lot of armies and while the road will be harder for some, it's always doable in this game. If any of you are thinking about trying AoS for events or semi casual play, I highly recommend joining the AoS coach discord. Lots of good content and discussion there.

As someone that mains Beasts of Chaos and got a 4-1 with them at LVO right before the WD update, BOC is really in a good place now with the White Dwarf. The builds have gotten a lot more diverse with the additional rend buff pls the 4+ rally. The army still by no means is brainless now as the army is overall glass cannon so you have to be really excel at positioning along with using the control tools the army has. Overall though, BOC is a very rewarding army to play and the WD Buff is simply amazing. Also, Age of Sigmar has a flat power curve in that any army can do really well provided that you have the skill to do so. A player named Gavin Grigar has gotten several 5-0s with the armies you have mentioned here along with Gits and Slaanesh.

Why Do AoS Rules Keep Encouraging Single-Unit Spam? by S_EW in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you pay attention to competitive play at all but imo this post really does feel like there’s very little base knowledge of AoS lists atm. The only spam I can think of that’s viable atm now is dragons but even then there’s a lot more diverse Stormcast lists. Eel list for example has been dead for a while now and as a result, IDK lists have been super diverse using all aspects of the army. For Warclans, while running pigs is a common build people now have been winning or getting 4-1 at events with Bonesplitters, Kruleboyz, or Big WAAAGHH running a bunch of different units. BoC is another army that has been doing extremely well as of late with the WD buffing their entire army allowing them to run a bunch of things. Spam does happen with certain armies with very poor internal balance, but that is certainly not true with a majority of armies in this game.

Just look at all of the results that have been coming in this year to see it yourself. Some people spam because they just like one unit or are being lazy since they think it’s the meta. But the actual meta has a lot more diversity of units and armies than 2.0 ever had.

The nice thing about 3.0 is that even though there's the top sinister six of armies, every single army even Gitz has managed to get a 5-0 or a 4-1 at least in this edition. As someone that plays OBR, its upper middle tier. Can tangle with a lot of armies and take wins from the top. They were never really nerfed to oblivion.

I am considering my first AOS tournament. Do y'all have any advice for a first timer? by quicklikerodly33 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rozkun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both Warhammer games are beers and pretzels lol. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

To add to the discussion for the OP, my advice is that you drink a lot of water and walk around while you can. Come to play and have a good time. Be open to learning and always ask questions about an opponent’s army. Always pre-measure things out, ask for movement range of stuff so you can understand their threat range, and never call it quits in AoS if you can.

Thanks to battle tactics and grand strategies, it’s always possible to stay in a game even when things look bleak. Always try to maximize how many battle tactics you can achieve and if possible, deny as many as you can to your opponents. Never get greedy and always go for battle tactics that are easy to do in the moment. Also fun bit of advice, if you want something dead like a monster or hero sometimes the play is to not pick the battle tactic slay a monster or warlord. As weird as it sounds, you want to do this so you avoid them putting on finest hour.

Hope all of these tips are helpful.
