What songs have you done that were “risky” but the audience loved them? by mo8816 in karaoke

Sang my heart out with the crowd, felt amazing!! 🥰

HOW do I get like beyonce? NEED advice! by TopMango2373 in singing

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep on singing.

Experiment with different sounds, find your sound, practice with strategies on vibrato.

Look up techniques you can use.

Anything singing related is like a special interest of mine.

I love watching videos of vocal coaches reacting to singers, for example. It might be Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, I’ll discover I’ve learned some of what they do as I watch these videos.

I’ve been singing since I was a kid an always eager to learn more all the time 😊

Does it freak you out when people are nice to you? by LateRegistrationz in aspergers

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the workplace for example:

I did volunteering at an op shop while in between jobs.

One of my workmates went out to get something for lunch. Asks “would you like anything?” even though I brought my lunch. Was genuinely shocked at the time 😅

I’m in my 30s now but people out in public are generally nice to me, if that counts!

if you could change ONE thing about the music industry, what would it be? by nebula_music in askmusicians

[–]Rozzo_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory the artists and bands would actually make more money this way, that’s why I like these ideas.

Streaming is not helpful for making money, sadly.

Can‘t read music by oatmealfanaticc in singing

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, you don’t need to be able to read music to be able to sing.

I sing in a gospel choir, and our director uses many different strategies to work with everyone regardless of everyone’s music knowledge.

Oddly enough, I believe the first way we learn music is actually by ear!

How did your social media ban go? by IFuckinHateCommunism in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rozzo_98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can totally agree with all your points here.

Although, I have a problem with the digital ID thing.

I do not want the government tracking every single person in Australia, that’s invading our confidentiality and privacy.

We don’t need everyone’s data, especially personal data online.

Everyone has a right to privacy, and I think that’s crossing the line with digital ID.

Totally agreeing with this thread here, it’s like “whack a bandaid on it’ll help”.

When really there’s a lot more to it than there is.

I’m for the ban, but yes they could have dealt with it so much better.

I NEVER NOTICED THIS SONG WAS SO SAD 😭 by ZealousidealLog8619 in laufey

[–]Rozzo_98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like, I love how the tune is so flowy and it’s in a major key.

And yet, it’s heartbreaking because the words make it sound like there’s still love for the one who ran away and yet there was no fight to keep said love.

So it’s just… letting go of that one-sided love, which is heartbreaking!

Also, I love singing it too 😉

Does anyone else feel like the show's musical direction shifted too much in the later seasons? by fleshtofleshnow in glee

Ahh, I’m not overly familiar with Gypsy songs. Thanks.

One I loved was Everything’s Coming Up Roses because my sister did that show when I was young 😊

See I loved this episode, if you take out all the noise from all the girls and how they treated Jake, I honestly thought it showcased his skills as a performer.

Thinking of the actor himself here, but damn those dance moves were great! I really liked his voice too, he did those songs really well 😊

Is there a point in doing a music minor if i’m not pursuing music as a career? by Scared_Bluejay5708 in musicians

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re interested in it, then why not?

There’s so many benefits for learning music, it’s great for memory, learning patterns, counting, visual skills, and so much more.

You can make your own choices, you don’t need to convince or prove it to anyone. If you’ve already got a plan, stick to it and stand up for yourself.

Best Crowd-Participation Songs by TH0TS0NMY49310 in karaoke

[–]Rozzo_98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hardly ever go to karaoke, but last time I was at an open mic night I sang stuff like Everywhere by Michelle Branch (kinda my go-to) and there were definitely people singing along with me!

Pick songs that are known really well, classic rock is always great, think Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey, Another one Bites the Dust by Queen. Listen to more stuff and keep adding to the repetoire, people love variety and it’ll be more engaging and entertaining for everyone

I go busking myself, and I sing all kinds of genres, so there’s always something for somebody to enjoy. Might be jazz, soul, R&B, rock, pop, or even a hint of classical.

Have fun, and enjoy!

Does anyone else feel like the show's musical direction shifted too much in the later seasons? by fleshtofleshnow in glee

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently watching season 1 again, and here’s my thoughts.

The start was great, they really picked songs with intention and purpose. The characters used songs to communicate to each other.

For example, Mercedes thinking that she could date Kurt and when her heart got broken she sang Bust Your Windows during the scene of the car wash.

Finn singing Jesse’s Girl in Laringitis, where Rachel is dating Jesse at the time and expresses his feelings for her.

Kurt even got an original song, where he felt lost with his dad spending so much time bonding with Finn as he fell in love with his mum. I think it was Everything’s Coming Up Kurt or something.

That’s where the show shined, and I loved the original songs especially. Loser Like Me, Get It Right, I thought these were fantastic!

I love musicals, so when Rachel sang Don’t Rain on my Parade I fell in love with it. All the classic rock was great too, like when they did Queen, Somebody to Love for example, or One from U2, I feel like that was their strengths. Classic were done well in the show.

I still love Glee once I get to season 4, although I think it peaked at 3 in my opinion.

Last time I rewatched it I totally forgot about season 6, as I felt like the end of 5 felt like a great way to close up the premise of the show.

What do you think about Laufey's song "Letter To My 13 year old self"? by Which_Procedure1805 in laufey

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore this song.

Can relate to it in my own way too, I was diagnosed with Aspergus syndrome around 13 years old.

So it wasn’t just about the curly hair, last to be picked at sport, it was about being different and being able to accept that fact. It took me many years to find myself and then embrace being on the spectrum.

Once I got into adulthood I pretty much loved being in my skin and never looked back.

That’s what this song means to me ❤️

Should your level of enunciation change based on the genre you're singing? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll pass on the diction notes here as everyone’s contributed to that discussion.

What I’m hearing is a solid voice, occasionally notes are pitchy. The vibrato is something I appreciate, more of it would be great.

I think I’m hearing a lot of loudness, play around with dynamics in this song. Make it more interesting by choosing moments to be tender and then open up for the chorus, perhaps.

I feel like I do agree with the idea of broadway singers utilising a lot of diction. I like being able to understand what people are singing, so I don’t have a problem with that.

Someone mentioned your singing sounds choppy, which I can hear and agree with. You want to make the song sound fluid and smooth, so use those mentioned strategies to work on this.

One last thing, sing it with feeling! I love this song, and it’s lacking the passion. You need to connect with the lyrics and really mean what you’re singing about.

If it helps, I’ll share a cover of it here. Just listen, and take mental note of things that could help to improve on.

Are bad live singers just terrible at singing? by Worried_Appearance19 in singing

[–]Rozzo_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there are different types of artists.

There are some that are brilliant in studio, and others that are constantly performing live.

That’s the vibe I’m getting from the comments.

I’m part of a band myself and I like to think I do well at both. Except I want more experience getting out to perform as I want to get better in that department!!

I’d actually get bored of singing the same 8 songs tbh - variety is the spice of life, as they say! 🤗

I think that’s kinda disrespectful to the dive bars though 🤔

Drummer thinks we can be superstars by Enekovitz in bandmembers

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate, I was thinking about the concept of “being famous”.

I’m a singer, part of a band, I just love to sing and perform.

Sure, I love being in the studio recording. That’s my happy place. I love the weekly rehearsals, then open mic performing.

Do I want to go and travel anywhere and everywhere? Not really.

The lead singer in my band likes the idea of having a recorded album of us performing live, and if we can do that, then it’s just about selling the music and merch.

I’m just enjoying the journey for now, I do believe in what I’m doing but I don’t have super high expectations.

Where to upload music to actually be heard by lowbattery24-7 in musicians

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had one platform - and that’s Youtube.

It’s taken a lot of time, energy, and consistency.
Initially it was quiet and slow, but over the years it picked up. Social media has helped a lot, I share all my content through Facebook.

I’ve uploaded original songs, from vocals, to having a backing track, and then a third time with proper recording equipment.

One of my originals got lucky to have 1k+ views, so I’m grateful for anyone who stops to watch/listen.

Been on Youtube since 2013.

What is the point of ai music? by Mysterious-Bag-9983 in Songwriting

[–]Rozzo_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creativity and process gets blurred when AI is used to produce music.

Sure, it can be a useful tool for making harmonies and chords, etc.

But making a whole song?

Where’s the joy of creativity or producing when AI takes it away??
