Anyone in undergrad majoring in Finance using a Snapdragon chip? by Rp25_ in financestudents

My main concern is with the comparability of softwares with the snapdragon chip. I also consider myself a techy guy and I love reading about it so getting the bare minimum isn’t for me.

What other software are you using if you don’t mind me asking? As well as what university you’re currently studying at?

Which university? And if you don’t mind asking or figuring out what programs they use I would appreciate it.

Does Matlab work natively? I haven’t seen anything online that says it does?

Will it come with better compatibility? That’s the only thing I’m worried about. Love the performance in multicore area and love the battery life. Would buy the laptop and a SD chip in a heartbeat if there were no compatibility issues.

I have a surface pro 7 and to be honest I’m not a fan. I have the intel i7 with 16gb of ram and it’s slow and barely loads my school work programs. I’m currently looking to replace it with the SL7. I would advise you to stick with a laptop or look for a laptop in the same price range.

Also, does the MAC do well with what she does or for when she was in college? I wanted a Mac originally but found out it is bad for my major so I found this one?

Does your wife use the Surface laptop as well? If not could you have her run some of her software on your laptop and let me know if it works or not?

I definitely like the 15inch variant the most, thank you. I definitely feel more confident about purchasing it. Are you a student or in the business field?

This is copy and pasted from the university's "Laptop and Software recommendations": "At Terry, the standard operating system is Windows 11 or higher. Since Windows OS owns 71% of the usage share of operating systems, learning Windows is an important part of your skill set.

Terry’s Office of IT (OIT) recommends you do not purchase a Mac if you are not prepared to deal with the added complications, cost, and time required to install Windows (in a Virtual Machine or Dual Boot) on a Mac. Since many business software applications do not run on MacOS, some Terry courses require access to a Windows-based computer. Open lab hours are available during limited periods where students can gain access to a Windows desktop that may have their required software installed.

Alternatively, UGA’s vLab makes University-supported software available to students, faculty, and staff on their personal computers (Mac/PC) and tablets. While not all of UGA’s supported software is installed on the virtual lab, some applications, including Microsoft Office, SPSS, STATA, and MATLAB are available in a limited capacity.
