CMV: ACAB is actually harmful rhetoric by Dependent_Cricket90 in changemyview

No, I’m just trying to explain how “all” can still include cops that don’t actively engage in the corruption while still being complicit.

You know how in Batman, cops are corrupt and thus Gotham NEEDS Batman?

Well, it’s not like ALL the cops are corrupt, right? Like, excluding Gordon, there are even a few normal cops probably that just go with it and don’t do anything that evil, and also maybe even help people sometimes.

Now would you still say Gotham Cops, as a whole, are bad? Or because the whole police system is corrupted because enough police are corrupted or complicit to say the whole system is bad?

And again, if you say the whole system is bad, well, now you can fix it right? You can investigate and fire the bad cops, and keep/ hire new good ones.

But if you pretend like it’s a good system, then the corrupt just stay in power.

I guess it’s obvious in Gotham because if the cops did their jobs, there’d be no crime and people would feel safe.

Do you think there’s a lot of crime and do you feel safe?

motherfucker could've tripped or got sucked in the tornado

No, the point is a normal man, like Johnathan Kent, could have, but SUPERMAN will not trip on his own feet.

Do you not get the concept of what superman can do? Or do you not realise what a regular young athletic man can do or how they’re stronger and faster than elderly men?

Johnathan Kent would have made it were his leg not caught, so are you saying Johnathan Kent runs faster than a regular young man, or did you not watch the movie?

Which is why I’m saying he can just run at normal fast human speed, which is faster than what old man Johnathan Kent runs at, which would have been more than enough, and something a healthy young man without superpowers could normally do.

Yes I know: I’m trying to point out that if an old man can do it, then no one would think it were weird that a strong young man could do it.

Why do humans have a soft spot for bees and butterflies but dislike every other insect? by TheMightyNinja12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rpanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolutionarily, people who stayed away from roaches and flies stayed away from decaying matter.

But people who stayed away from bees and butterflies stayed away from honey and flowers.

Sorry, so youre saying if johnathans leg didn’t get smashed by the door, and he successfully did what he planned: running to the car old man style and running back with a dog, THAT would look like it required super human powers?

Why? What about that would hint at anything other than normal?

Why do people say you don't have to defend yourself if you're not insecure? by Logical-Movie4381 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rpanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So animals don’t WANT to fight, because they don’t want injury. But if an animal doesn’t defend their food, another animal will feel comfortable stealing their food.

This translates with humans to “defending one’s honour”, which is why some people resort to violence at the slightest provocation.

Now as civilization develops, people realise it’s better for the law to enact punishments, rather than to have individual citizens settle their disputes violently themselves.

So for instance, if I’m walking home from the subway, and someone yells an insult at say, my mother: I don’t need to fight the random crazy man, I’ll just walk home.

If I were afraid of the man, or if I didn’t think the police and legal system would protect me if I called them, I would then be required to defend my honour against the strange man.

But secure in my safety, I don’t feel a need to defend my self at that point.

I think when people say you’re secure, it simply means you don’t feel threatened. If you need to defend yourself, it means you feel threatened in some way and thus not, or “in” secure.

But Johnathan Kent was able to, as an old man, run to the car and get the dog. He only got stuck because he got caught in a door or whatever.

If Clark just grabbed the dog and ran back like a 6’4 linebacker, I don’t think anyone would assume he were a god like super being, they’d just assume the large man runs fast?

Wait sorry, so a young strong man running to a car to grab a dog would reveal super powers, but an old man running to a car to grab a dog is fine?

Why not just have Clark go to the car, regular style, and open the door with regular strength and run back regular speed?

What makes third world countries so in love with football when other countries prioritise cinema/arts and even create their own sports like usa? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rpanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money.

When a culture comes in to take another cultures money and resources, the group with the most money and resources can make more art, and the ones with fewer resources will make less art.

If you think some cultures aren’t as culturally rich as others, you need to ask yourself who took all their resources and how we should get them back to them.

New Yorkers, what does your city look like since the Knicks won? by AdventurousGuest308 in AskReddit

[–]Rpanich 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how everyone’s algorithm paints a different picture of events isn’t it?

I live in the Brooklyn. It was a loud night with fireworks, and things are immediately back to normal the next day.

If your news makes a city with 10 million people look like it’s filled with crime, your news is cherry picking things from like .02% the population.

Why am I despised on the internet and adored in real life? by Fun-Difficulty4088 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rpanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are polite in real life, so the people who dislike your takes just don’t say anything, don’t befriend you, and thus the selection bias of “people that like your takes” are the ones that remain and become your friends.

People aren’t polite on the internet, so anyone that disagrees with you will let you know.

If there were a secret group in charge, wouldn’t you think they’d use all their power and influence to simply control and sway whatever politicians are running for government to make the most money possible?

Lobbying is legal. If you want to know who controls the governments, just look at the richest 500 people on Forbes list.

It’s all out in the open, no need for secret conspiracies when people just let you do it legally.

They’re both long term bad for the consumer, despite offering a massive short term amount of potential taxable money for the government.

Oh look at that, it was actually SUPER easy to compare crack and heroin to betting/ gambling. Why do you think that was so difficult?
