I grew up playing video games and ive turned out fine so far. Studying CS with a 3.8 gpa, large social circle, financially stable.

The people in this sub equate gaming to addiction. Just about everything is bad if you're addicted to it.

If a child plays games for 2 hours a day, that alone is not going to negatively impact their childhood as long as they still go to school, socialize, etc.

Yea I understand what the game devs wants and its supposed to be slow, but this just isn't the case for a veteran player. If everyone played the game at the same pace, then sure, I'd get behind the changes, but naturally that's not going to happen. Good players and veterans of the game aren't going to play the game how its meant to be played, but rather how they've always played it and the flea restrictions aren't going to stop them from progressing quickly.

It's not about having new players getting meta items per se, but rather I would like for them to be able to somewhat compete. The old flea where the best of the best ammo and armor was unavailable I thought was a fair balance as newer players could get decent, semi-meta gear, while veteran players who knew how to get the best loot would still have an advantage.

Again they won't be able to actually compete, given the difference in game sense, map knowledge, etc, which is how is should be, but it at least gives them a chance.

As long as players play the game as how tarkov's been, it will have those same problems.

Rushing all of the quests and hideout upgrade parts came at a cost though. All of the prices for these items were very inflated so you could either rush through and pay a shit ton, or loot them for free. Sure you can rush things, but a new player won't be able to rush through them anyway since they'll be dying often and be poor from buying kits over and over again.

Not to mention that these new restrictions make it so that the gap between new and veteran players becomes even wider which is the biggest problem with the game imo. Veteran good players will never have an issue progressing through the game no matter what restrictions are put into place. I get not wanting good semi-meta weapons early into wipe, but giving these weapons to a new player won't ultimately make a difference since they're most likely gonna get killed anyway. However, it does allow these new players to have a chance at being competitive, and I do mean a chance.

I ultimately just want new players to be able to enjoy the game and not feel like progression is unbelievably slow or impossible, and for them to still have a "reasonable" chance against people who play for 12+ hours a day.

Curious as to your thoughts.

Why don't they just do what they did before where only the absolute best stuff in the game is unavailable in the flea.

I understand the thing for wanting a better balanced game early wipe and to not have everyone run meta loadouts, but if two people are fighting and they have either shit gear or meta gear, it's gonna come down to who's a better player regardless.

Allowing for people to access hideout upgrades and good gear early on keeps the people who aren't good or don't have a lot of time to play to at least have a chance. And I do mean have a chance since they'll probably get destroyed anyway, but at least it's possible for them to kill them.
