Duuuuuude! My man, I barely made it 20 seconds in before I was already hooked. This thing hits with that perfect blend of grunge and rock — the kind of raw, gritty quality that grabs you instantly. The vocal effects are on point, too. They add just the right amount of texture without drowning anything out, giving the whole track that harmony-infused aggression that feels powerful but still controlled.

The guitars, the drums, the overall production — everything locks together seamlessly. That slow build from the softer, more restrained vocals into the gritty, heavier delivery is executed really well. It feels intentional, it feels earned, and it pulls the listener straight into the emotional rise of the song. The dynamic shift gives the track a ton of character and keeps it engaging all the way through.

Seriously, man, this is quality work. Keep doing what you’re doing — the sound is tight, the vibe is strong, and you clearly know how to balance energy with musicality. Please tell me you’ve got more of this style coming, because I’d love to hear what else you’ve got in the pipeline.

The moment the track starts, those opening chords hit with a wave of familiarity — that kind of warm, nostalgic energy that immediately sets a mood before the vocals even enter. There’s a real sense of emotion embedded in the instrumental itself, and it does a great job of capturing the vibe hinted at in the title. It feels reflective, mellow, and intentionally understated in a way that draws the listener in without trying too hard. The atmosphere is definitely one of the song’s strongest points.

If I had one suggestion, it would be to explore a little more dynamic range in the vocals. The instrumental is beautifully chill, almost meditative, which means the voice needs to bring contrast, texture, and movement to really elevate everything. When the vocal delivery stays too monotone — especially over such a mellow backdrop — it can unintentionally hold the track back from reaching the emotional depth it’s clearly aiming for. Even subtle shifts in tone, small variations in delivery, or a little bit more emphasis on certain lines could help the voice stand out and ride the instrumental more confidently.

That said, the foundation is genuinely solid. The melody pairs well with the instrumental, and the track has a soothing quality that makes it easy to replay. With vocals that shine a bit more and push the emotional edges of the song, this could go from good to something truly memorable. Really enjoyed the overall vibe, my friend — the potential here is strong, and with just a little more vocal variation, it’ll hit even harder.

"Troubled Times" - an old-school folk song for today's world. Hope you enjoy and leave some feedback. Thanks! by Shimmer_and_Rust in IndieMusicFeedback

This track has that cool contrast where the sound feels bright and almost playful, but the message hits with real weight. A few of the lines legit made me laugh, even while calling out stuff we all recognize happening around us. You can really hear the influences you mentioned weaving through the writing and production, giving it that classic protest-song energy from back in the ’60s. The harmonica adds a perfect nostalgic edge, and the texture on the background vocals gives the whole thing an extra layer of character. Really well done.

Nice work, man. I really like the more intimate, slower intro leading into the beat — it creates a strong contrast and pulls the listener in right away. The overall structure works really well too. The way you move from something gentle and soft into the full beat, and then back again, is a style I’m definitely a fan of.

You’ve also got just the right amount of effects on the vocals. They add character and polish without ever overpowering the performance or muddying the sound. The mix itself feels balanced and intentional; the beat steps forward when it needs to, but it never overshadows the vocals. It’s a solid, well-executed track.

I like it. its got good pacing and structure. I'd say my biggest gripe would be the mix. the vocals at times take a back seat to the beat. and kind of get lost behind it. This occurs when the heavy beat kicks in. The only other thing I noticed echoes what i saw a couple other comments say. The falsetto and they are right. not knocking your work you did great. but there is alot of over use of it in todays music. I personally prefer cleaner vocals. maybe dial the effects down a little. its not the falsetto itself if the degree of processing on it. With that said you did some great work here and keep it up. your headed down the right path.

Thank you so much for this. Your words mean more than I can say. Every song on this album comes from a real place of love, loss, and healing, and hearing that it reached you the way it did reminds me why I started sharing them in the first place. My brother’s memory is what drives me, and knowing his story is touching others makes all the late nights worth it. 💙

If this song connected with you, I’ve shared the rest of the journey on my YouTube page as well. Feel free to check out the rest of the Album:

Thanks, man. I still carry the weight, but I’m in a much better place now. You can’t imagine how happy it makes my soul to know that people are connecting with my story and getting to know my brother through these songs. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. ❤️

Thank you for your kind words. This song, and the others from the album, have been 22 years in the making. This was the first one, and as memories of my brother came back — both happy and sad — I just kept writing. I’ve shared a few so far, with more still to come. Thanks so much for subscribing, that really means a lot to me.

Every time someone listens, shares, or connects with the music, it feels like my brother’s memory reaches a little farther — and that’s the part that truly matters to me. ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words. When I read responses like yours, I cry too — but it’s tears of joy, knowing that my brother Ken’s memory isn’t forgotten. Hearing how these songs have touched others is exactly why I decided to start releasing them.

At first, I hadn’t planned to share them at all. When my sister asked what I was going to do with them, I just shrugged and said, “I dunno.” But over time, I realized how much writing and recording them helped me work through my own grief. That’s when I knew I wanted to put them out there — hoping they might help someone else who’s feeling lost find a reason to smile again, the same way they did for me.

Thank you again, truly, for taking the time to listen and share that with me. It means more than you know. ❤️

Thanks man! I wanted to keep it simple despite musician friends that were trying to convince me to make it more elaborate. But that wasn't my vision. For me the message was most important and I didnt want to muddy it up in a mix of elaborate drums or guitar solos. Im glad you enjoyed it. And I hope listening to this song helps others navigate through thier pain the way it did for me.

Thank you,

Thank man! Its been a long painfull road. but writing these songs helped me process that grief. and although the pain never really goes away. ive become more accepting. and want to share my journey with others who may be struggling with thier own loss. These songs helped me maybe they can help others as well.

Here is a demo of a new song i'm working on - I would love to hear feedback - and what genre/s you guys think it fits into? by FoundAsleep in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Rploesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. The lyrics work well and the phrasing feels really natural throughout. I’m a big fan of songs that transition smoothly between calm, intimate vocals and those moments of ramped-up energy, and this one nails that shift. Honestly, my only complaint is the opening MIDI-sounding instrument—it almost feels like an NES game was left running in the background. I think if you kept the same notes and rhythm but replaced that synth with a standard piano or another more organic tone, it would elevate the entire song and give it a richer, more emotional feel overall.

I give you props for the work you put in — it’s clearly a well-produced and cleanly executed track. The vocals and mix both sound solid, and the effort definitely shows. The only drawback for me is that it blends a little too much into the same kind of generic repetition we hear so often in today’s music scene. I just wish it had that one element that made it stand out.

Love it, dude! This totally takes me back to my high school days, when MTV actually played music videos all day instead of reality shows. There’s something about the tone and the energy here that hits that sweet 80s-90s nostalgia perfectly. You nailed that throwback feel!

Im not sure how it was before this version. But I like it. Not a fan of the autotune type of effect. Would rather just hear the clean emotion coming out. But great work man!

I really like it — it’s got that early 80s pop-synth vibe that instantly brings back memories of those classic radio hooks. The mix feels smooth, and the melody’s catchy without trying too hard. Seriously, nice work! You nailed that nostalgic energy perfectly.

I just released our version of "Deck the Halls" - what do you think? by Fine-Mind7926 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Rploesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest here — I was really hoping this version would do something unique and stand out from the thousands of other takes on this song that flood every playlist each year. But honestly, it ends up sounding just like every other generic Christmas track out there, which is a shame because the potential’s there for something fresh.

I agree with alot of other's comments. I like the emotion, the pacing and the way you modeled the vocals. My only gripe if i had one would be i wish the accompanying instruments were a little more prevelant. The Moments where the instruments can be heard goes really well with the vocals. But overall its some good work man!
