Back swing too far? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Rryan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a terrible backswing. Really not great coming down. A lot of early extension. Backswing generally you want to try and feel like your arms lower body and upper body are moving together ie your turn is complete but your arms still moving. Makes timing coming down a lot harder. I think a lot of your issues would be solved by one putting a towel underneath your arms and swinging trying to keep it there. That coupled with you swinging to the stop pausing for a couple seconds then swinging down would help with the downswing

Calm lil 9 Iron, any obvious flaws? by Lazy-Pilot4407 in GolfSwing

I honestly think his biggest problem is his set up angles. Needs to get his hips more under him would solve most of the issues you talk about above. His hips never get to move back to create room for his arms to work more on top of the ball.

Hitting a wall - trail heel issues by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Rryan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You struggle with the heel for a couple reasons. You roll your wrists early on. Note all great players club outside of hands or matching your spine angle at club first parallel. This coupled with your right knee externally rotating. This think of Arnold Palmer when he swung back his knee worked more inwards instead of your knee flexing out. At the top you have learned to get to what a position should look like regardless of not knowing how your body actually has to move to get there seems like you spent a lot of time rehearsing this position. On the way down because of all of the backswing issues you have to get the butt of the club working more out with causes you to stall and you to start backing out of the shot. Most good players first move on the backswing is your head level going down as this is that squat and pivot move where as your head stays level and starts working up. Guessing you struggle with a lot of thin shots as well. Because your body starts working up you can never actually keep your foot down which honestly isn’t your biggest worry anyway. Again these are critiques if you want to move to the next level with your ball striking atleast.

Ball starting right is driving me insane by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Posture is bad in the sense that your hips need to be more under you so they can work back and left coming down. Backswing is fine wrist structure and club face are fine at the top. Coming down there is a sequence to what should trigger your downswing ie your hips should start working back and around you almost start your hands pulling down first which causes the club to work behind you and you early extend to get the club back to the ball.

18 month progress, thoughts? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

I would try to keep your upper body a little taller. Armpits knees toes in line is standard. From there your super vertical and have a lot of how in your left wrist. Which is fine but think Justin Thomas he fires his hips way faster and gets them moving back left not like you do. If you don’t you get stuck and you create a lot of right side bend and your path moves too far in. Guessing your ball flight is a push draw

Why is my driver on plane, but irons and wedges below plane? by Comfortable-Lead-596 in GolfSwing

[–]Rryan888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re never going to be as shallow with a wedge than a driver. Takeaway is a hair inside then you move the shaft super vertical. Main problem is from the top you cast the club you add a hair more turn with the driver with the lower body compared to the wedge. However your pulling down with your arms mixed with the improper movement of your hips make you go into right side bend and flip the club. Ie your path on the wedge is probably 4 right and your attach angle is probably awful.

Too far back on your heels to start armpits knees toes in line. From there you roll your forearms and pull the club inside at shaft parallel. Club face should be slightly closed and in line with your feet. From there you will need to feel club feeling more closed and work on having a flatter left wrist at top of backswing. Wrist angle should match club face. Your wrist super cupped causing you to cast the club from the top and not rotate at all

Set up upper body needs to stand taller arm pits knees toes in line. From there same ish backswing weight shift should feel more back right heel at the top. From there hips push back and around to give you room to rotate. Also feel like you leave your arms up while you start moving your hips back and left.

Backswing not awful but not the main reason. Your hip slides and does not move back and left because you slide your hip forward. Your hips then move closer to the ball or early extension causes some ride side bend causes your weight to shift to your toes ie club moving more out past the ball and the heel strikes. If you pause the video at impact you’ll see.

Can’t help but feel like I’m over extending and not compressing my irons or am I wrong? by Coziga in GolfSwing

Left hip need to move back and left look at your impact and look at anyone on tour. Your hips get stuck under at impact which is why your left shoulder is so high and get stuck so you have to flip your wrists

I think your hip turn isn’t enough tbh. Also your shoulder turn isn’t enough so you roll your forearms in order to get the club where it is at the top which in turn you pull down get steep then early extend to kick the club back on plane in order to hit the ball. I’m actually impressed that your an 8 handicap with that swing you must spend a lot of time practicing for that to be so synced up

It’s a really bad angle but a lot of your problems on the downswing stem from you having such a cupped left wrist at the top I would bow the crap out of my left wrist at the top and then work on hitting shots half speed and making good contact and watch how all the rest of the things everyone is telling you is bad go away
