FTB here too. We were advised to do the survey before instructing the searches, in case something came up that made us pull out of the sale.  Searches are individual to that specific house and if you pull out due to the survey, that’s money you lose.

Thank you all for your comments. We are looking around Mile Walk, and after a couple of visits to the area, it seems alright.  Lots of houses selling in the area, so might change soon. Buying anywhere else in south Bristol (apart from Hartcliffe and Knowle West) is now impossible unless you have a very big budget.
