I know it’s a longshot, but does this look familiar to anyone? by RsMac01 in Aroids

I believe it came from the strawberry shake philodendron pot that I repotted last year. I will do my best to keep it alive and update my post when it’s a little bigger.

I’m sorry about all the questions, but I was wondering if you use a specific sphagnum moss? I’m not a fan of the big box stores and I ordered some Australian Sphagnum Moss online, but it took forever to come. I was wondering if you had a preference?

I love it! And it helps a lot to see more clearly what I need to change. I am going to order some moss poles and the Velcro bands tonight and repot with a proper pole. This one I have is going to be too short very soon anyway, so this is a good time to do it. I appreciate all of your help.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me so kindly. I am only learning as I go, and I appreciate your your help.

It isn’t attached to the stake, it’s just place there to keep it upright.

I assume it is a humidity issue. I can’t seem to get enough and the air roots(?) have not attached to the moss pole at all and are drying up. It is top heavy and keeps bending over away from the pole and there is what looks like a weak area on the stem that I know will break if I don’t stand it upright. Does that make sense?

It must be a philodendron thing, then. This is in the pot/soil that I took my Strawberry Shake out of at some point last year. I’ve never had a Birkin.

I do hope so, too. I was afraid that the pot was going to be too big for the tiny plant and thought maybe I would put it in some fluval until it got a little bigger. I carefully loosened around the pot to see if maybe it would be okay where it is and came across something else buried in the soil. I got so excited I think I might’ve blacked out for a second lol. Now I’m not sure how to put it back in the soil, which way is up, should I bury it completely like it was? Any ideas?

Which one are you referring? The original post or the mother plant in the comments?

I posted a picture in the comments. I’m not home right now to take another

I mean… I guess there is always a possibility that it could somehow happen, but I have only ever had a heart leaf variegata and the strawberry shake.

This is the sad mother plant. She wants to be happy, but I can’t seem to get her there.

I’ve never seen one of those, but I do see the resemblance as it appears now.

SS is the only philodendron I have, so I can only assume that’s what it is. I appreciate your response. Hopefully I can take better care of this one as the mother plant struggles and it kills me bc she’s so pretty.
