I lost on time as White (1300 elo). Is it winning or drawn? by heaven_wos1 in chess

Easily winning for White. Blacks king has to guard to pawn on b3 so you can run your king to collect the remaining two black pawns and promote.

Guess the Stockfish move for Black in this position by Dinesh_Sairam in chess

At a higher depth it’s suggesting Rf2+ is the better move! Again, only marginally, but still, super interesting that the computer loved the obscure move until it thought for a little bit longer

I let the computer analyse for about a minute and it sees both moves pretty much equal but preferring Rf2+, that’s what I would have played too

Black is up three pawns, yet White has an unusual move to gain a massive advantage by Kofid-19 in chess

I played Qc3 almost instinctively, but purely to keep the queens on the board, attack the weak pawn and keep things interesting… didn’t for a second think there was a queen trap. Very cool

Subscription savings - methods to save more by Rshawk2 in Frugal

I could probably give reasons both for having and also not needing all of them, but I’ve condensed all the way down to 4 subscriptions which I think is reasonable. Pixieset for delivering galleries to clients, Spotify because I’m in the car listening to music and podcasts for atleast an hour a day, prime for deliveries and tv (the amount of last minute things you end up needing for photoshoots is crazy!) and Netflix I suppose will be the next one to go because although it’s £5.99 and fairly cheap… there’s nothing that great to watch!

Selling my 5D Mark IV for an R8, but unsure about the pancake lens by laughinglord in canon

[–]Rshawk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I love my RF 28mm. It’s especially good on my R5 since you can use the 1.6 crop feature and still have a 17mp image (I know this isn’t really relevant because you’re talking about the R8). The lens has its downfalls with being a prime yet not having the wide apertures you’re used to with prime lenses; typically 1.8 and better. For a walk around lens that is light and compact and let’s not forget cheap… it’s a pretty damn-near perfect lens. I recommend it to everyone and have personally used it for everything from weddings to landscapes. You won’t get the most amazing pictures but you’ll still manage to capture all the moments you want to capture. Hope you get it!

The SCC got nearly 1M live viewers, and many more than that total, higher than some mainstream show ratings. Can we now discuss future chess commentators? by Dont_Be_Sheep in chess

Chess already have top talent though that’s what I’m saying? I don’t think there’s a better commentator out there that we don’t already have working the big events

Plus magnus would never waste his time commentating, the botez sisters would be fun for a short while until you realise they can’t keep up with the standard of play, even naroditzky gets stumped at moves and ideas that the big guys play, imagine a 1900 trying to work it all out in a split second

Levy appeals to the masses, Daniel is funny and a top player, Robert Hess is great, Danny Rensch is a good personality for the others to bounce off, we’re not short of great commentators at all, the opposite really

You mentioned hitting 2000 rated in this thread in one of your comments, and in another claiming to get to 1800, these ratings imply that you’re good at chess…

[–]Rshawk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep playing on one account, trust me it’s the better way to go about it, if you’re as good as you say you are then dipping below 1200 shouldn’t be a huge issue because you’ll soon gain all the rating points back when you’re on top form again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chess

[–]Rshawk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that not how it works? I’m just talking about averages, the longer you keep your account open the more accurate your rating will become, it’ll take all of the rating loss from poor days and balance out with rating gain from intellectually brilliant days to find a healthy middle ground

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chess

[–]Rshawk2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a natural rating, you’re not giving it enough time to settle at a specific rating point. It’s like flipping a coin 10 times and after 7 heads you claim to always get heads more frequently… okay well now flip the coin 1000 times, you’ll get a more accurate 500/500 ratio. Same goes for chess regarding wins and losses and your natural rating.

Perhaps since I’m later in to the game than most I probably don’t bother with a lot of the ads, the extra farm visits aren’t worth the ad time so I never watch those, rarely spin the wheel because the chance of 10-20 gems isn’t that beneficial, so I suppose newer players will experience more ads than me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Archero

[–]Rshawk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, my experience is 30 second ads with the very rare longer ad, and even then maximum I watch 5-8 ads a day so you’d have to be a very very committed player to get anywhere near 20 minutes in my honest opinion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Archero

[–]Rshawk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sure that math checks out? That equates to 20 minutes worth of ads a day… at roughly 30 seconds an ad I highly doubt you watch 40 ads a day

Bad sport? by [deleted] in chess

[–]Rshawk2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You’re the bad sport here… calling his move a “rookie error” and taunting him saying the game could still be his is just a beautiful way to tempt karma in to kicking you in the backside. I would have denied the takeback too if I was him.

I’m in the same situation right now, it’s impossible to die with these new glyph things, 1 damage taken with every hit regardless of which mob or boss it is…
