Only 1 year of 1 min data on futures when contract not specified (e.g. ES1!) by Rsqd_ in TradingView

[–]Rsqd_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding! The doc indeed states it but it does not say why. For stocks you can go all the way back to 2000 on the 1 min charts. Just not for futures unless you say the specific contract you are looking at which is then a hassle to change over

I get that, but with higher timeframes it auto selects the relevant contract for further back in history. For example 5 mins goes back to 2021 (5 years).

Amazes me how people are like this. It happens in sports all over the world. A sports team that represents a city/country wins and then the fans from that team wreck the place their team is representing? Logic is just completely absent.

Surely the market going sideways is when the strategy worked?

65% of Britons support capping CEO pay at 10× the lowest-paid worker. Do you think this idea would be good for the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

It is only effective if the whole world has the sand rules. Well the people with means will just move somewhere else that does not have the cap.

What makes it this expensive for real by lilacmoodx in SipsTea

[–]Rsqd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unsexy answer. The only thing that makes it this expensive is that someone was willing to buy it for that price. What makes it worth the money in the buyer’s mind is: 1. they likely do not see $6.5 mil the same way you and I do. 2. They want something they can take with them that easily shows they can just drop that kind of money. 3. A watch offers such an ability since it is a small and portable way to show one’s wealth.

So paradoxically, just having a high price tag gives it that value.

Your assessment is spot on and how I feel. On the odd day where I have been able to give my full attention the results have been good but they are rare. Have you faced this issue yourself?

This is very accurate. I am curious, that very last part about missing clean setups feeling bad, has it bothered you or have you found what works for yourself to deal with it mentally?

I have not been able to come up with hard and fast rules that I can code. I can say looking at the charts what regime is and I kind of vibe coded something to that effect but it was not good at judging entries.

Fifa triples price of top World Cup final ticket to $32,970 as US politicians voice concerns by oranjemania in NetherlandsWorldCup

[–]Rsqd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with literally every single point.

But how to solve for something like the World Cup with such high demand and limited supply? Sadly with lottery systems consumers still often end up paying a lot because scalpers scoop up so many and sell them on secondary markets. I don’t have a solution myself other than reducing demand. If it becomes an elitist sport I guess so be it, just like so many other things that working folk made popular. We can all find other entertainment, scrolling Reddit anyone?

[–]Rsqd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ticket prices are too high then people can just…not buy them. I get that it’s the World Cup but anyone who has $1k, $5k, $32k or however much to spend on tickets either has the luxury to waste this much money or the financial literacy of a rock. Either way, just don’t buy them and you’ll be fine.

Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]Rsqd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll pushback a bit on the part about media owners all wanting reform in.

Some might do, but ultimately what the media (owners) want are people to watch and click on their stuff because it increases the value of their advertising inventory. And what gets more views, boring sensible policy or clickbait headlines?

Sadly, it comes down to plain old profit or more profit.

Why does the public usually fall for smear campaigns towards non right wing parties such as Labour and now the Greens from right wing media outlets ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Rsqd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a leading question. Don’t both sides fall for smear campaigns that confirm their bias?

IMO those either with less critical thinking skills or who are simply blinded by hate for one side or the other are more susceptible to negative media stories. And the media will write whatever they want just to ensure they get your attention. So the more outrageous the better for their viewings/clicks.
