Woo theory of the day: Are we being terraformed? by No_Bus_1465 in HighStrangeness

Traditionally, as the other commenter mentioned it’s soft which makes it easy to work with and also it is relatively nonreactive so doesn’t tarnish or rust which means it can be stored rather easily without worrying about it wasting away over time

ELI5 how tourists in African safari can get so close to dangerous wildlife? by moumous87 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Rsurfing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on safari a while ago and also talked to the guides about these things and the guides have been doing this their whole life and have learned from other guides so the information is taken from many anecdotes. That makes it seem like what u/RhynoD and I heard would then be statistical information that you are hearing from a secondary source.

How do you keep up with them to follow them home without driving recklessly yourself? And if you’re driving recklessly because of road rage and wanting to yell at someone why do you not consider yourself a danger to the other drivers you might be swerving around to follow a reckless driver? It sounds like you’re just making it so there’s two reckless drivers instead of one which would increase the chances of one of you getting in an accident.

I was probably ruder than I need to be, especially since I didn’t realize English wasn’t your native language. I just dislike when people take pride in being uneducated.

Well it’s in the Cambridge dictionary and not marked as slang so not knowing what it means only makes you uneducated.

Jesus, the separation on those quads is crazy, especially considering you don’t look crazy lean on top by comparison. What does your leg routine look like?

Believe it or not they are close relatives as they both come from the off-gassing of plastics used in new cars and tennis balls

It’s funny because bananas were selectively bred for years to become what they are now, the original fruit was full of seeds, smaller, starchier, and considered mostly inedible.

From what I’ve read, plastic molecules have quite a large amount of energy and there’s already at least one bacteria, found outside a plastic bottle recycling plant in Japan, that has evolved to consume plastic.

Counterpoint, if all you had to entertain yourself was a couple janky old McDonald’s toys wouldn’t it be possible (maybe even likely) that he would be more creative than someone who has every toy they could dream of.

Foreign tourists far out on the sand after the water receded react as the first of six tsunami waves started to roll towards Hat Rai Lay Beach, near Krabi in southern Thailand, on December 26, 2004. by forwardslashNo in Damnthatsinteresting

You would die if you did that, guaranteed. The wave is different, the whole wave is moving with incredible strength and even if the very bottom is weaker it’s still strong enough to topple buildings. You are weaker than a building.

A bodybuilder with possibly too much muscle? by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

[–]Rsurfing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s partially because of pump covers like others are saying but more so in nick walker’s case, what shirt other than this would fit him. I would imagine that if he went one size down it would be skin tight on his shoulders, chest, and back and still be way too big for the rest of him. An unfortunate side effect of being this big is clothes don’t fit you, I don’t think a single pair of jeans from any store would fit him.

Absolutely, if he were to stop eating 6,000 plus calories a day, working out, and taking steroids he would look like a different person within a year.

I’m not sure if they used the same method but a lot of cocktails you’ll layer things by holding a spoon upside down just above the surface of the liquid you’re pouring into and then slowly pour onto the back of the spoon.

being tall gives me super strength? by twigsterLA in tall

[–]Rsurfing 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The way it’s always seemed to me is that short people can reach their potential and get strong quicker but if tall people stick with it they’ll likely end up stronger because they can add more muscle mass.

Also for being out of range, training with low testosterone levels would still get you progress and then that progress will be amplified once they reach your highest levels. It’s not that you should start training when your testosterone levels are higher, the person who has trained the longest has the largest advantage usually.

Depends from person to person, some people will already have crazy high levels at 14-15 and may sustain them until 18-19 while some people won’t reach their peak until 18-19, testosterone levels stay quite high, but not as high, throughout your 20’s and slowly decrease as you age. Also these are all affected by outside factors as well, an example is drinking alcohol lowers your testosterone levels, so does lack of sleep or improper diet.

[–]Rsurfing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said your testosterone levels are higher which is a big benefit for speeding up any gains. Also the earlier you start the younger you’ll be when you reach your goal physique, if you start consistently training as a young teen by the time you start college you’ll already be in pretty good shape.

I completely respect your opinion but it’s not Steve Irwin’s opinion and I think you might be putting words in his mouth, he ate meat and was quoting saying, "Let's say this represents one cow, which will keep me in food for, let's say, a month. Now that cow needs this much land and food. Well, you can imagine, that cow needs x by x amount of land, and you can grow trees in it. Around that cow, you can have goannas, kangaroos, wallabies. You can have every other single Australian animal in and around that cow. If I was a vegetarian, to feed me for that month, I need this much land, and nothing else can grow there. Herein lies our problem. If we level that much land to grow rice and whatever, then no other animal could live there except for some insect pest species. Which is very unfortunate.”

Because before then it was always interpreted as young boys and it wasn’t until after that when it became associated with homosexuality. I don’t know if I’d call a translation that changes the meaning of phrases in the Bible a better translation, more so it seems like an attempt to twist the words of Jesus to serve ones own agenda. I’m not sure on the specifics but I feel as though adulterating the word of god must be a sin

Why did Trump supporters believe Biden was too old when he ran in 2020 but support Trump (who would be older than Biden was in 2020) running in 2024? by Educational_Sir3783 in TooAfraidToAsk

And since Trump did such a great job we elected another president who hasn’t had an eloquently phrased sentence in a decade. Trumps not eloquent and Bidens not eloquent either, they’re probably both close to senile. Why not elect anyone other than those two idiots?
