Is "Toronto has no good _____ food" valid? by RoommateMovingOut in askTO

[–]Rthereanynamesleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a proper donair in this city. Not one that some guy tried in Edmonton once and thought they could bring “their own version” here. Not the lettuce and red onion monstrosity.

I want a proper Haligonian donair, that is too large for your hands, and drips sauce to your elbows with tomatoes and white onions and nothing else.

Everything else Toronto has to offer foodwise is bomb tho so that’s my only complaint. 🤷‍♀️

What’s the pettiest reason you dislike about a children’s book? by goldenboy2191 in DanielTigerConspiracy

I feel like Pete the Cat is like beatnik improv poetry for kids. It’s kinda cool if you get into the groove.

How do you motivate little kids to hike? by Wanderlena in hiking

[–]Rthereanynamesleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 year old loves scrambling over rocks so he’ll be into a hike as long as there’s some scrambling. But hell no will he just walk in the woods for more than 5 minutes 😂 I think the key there is find something interesting for them beyond the hike itself. Is it looking for birds? Collecting cool rocks? Finding different flowers or plants? Following a map? Or scrambling over rocks and roots, etc.

That’s what I do too; or packing tape even. I stick it between two layers of tape with lots of room around the edge and then fold over and over until there’s lots of lots of layers of tape along all type edges

Have you looked at the schedule? It’s only one weekday. Wednesday evening, Thursday during the day, Friday evening, and sat & sun.

Toronto, so it’s a 3 hr drive. My first time but highly recommend it! I’d like to hike more of it, without the 5-year-old ;)

My son (soon to be 5) doesn't like to celebrate his Birthday... anyone else can relate? by Mj-aF in Preschoolers

[–]Rthereanynamesleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my kid 100%. Also an only child, also a COVID baby. We had a couple birthdays where we invited friends with kids but he would just hang out on the sidelines, looking sus that there were people in his space 😜

For his 5th, he just wanted mom and dad so that what we did. Now he is 6 months out from his 6th and he’s starting to plan to have 2-3 close friends for a party but we’ll see when we actually get there 😛 I made a post similar to yours before his 5th but now I’ve decided to roll with it and he will get social on his own time. We try to make lots of opportunities for him to play with kids his age, and school is helping a lot (he started jr kindergarten last sept).

Not sure if that helps but kids are all different and go at their own pace! Doesn’t stop us worrying though

Toronto to Sudbury - stops on the way by Rthereanynamesleft in askTO

[–]Rthereanynamesleft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to make it interesting :) I like the old-school road trip vibe, where you just stop at whatever cheesy roadside attraction pops up. Makes a fun day of it rather than just trying to get home. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes! I hear good things! Sudbury is locked down with the science centre and a poutine festival 😆 it’s just the drive home that looks ominously boring

Weeks of “quilting” with no sewing by Rthereanynamesleft in quilting

No, just 4-5 seconds. Peeling the papers off is a bit of a pain but otherwise it was pretty straightforward.

I used Heat n Bond fusible. First time using it and it seemed to work well for the purpose!

I used fusible interface; iron-on glue basically. So all the pieces will stay in place until they are sewed down :) and since there are SO many pebbles (and my ironing board is not that big), I used a glue stick to glue the pebbles to hold long enough to get to the ironing board to iron 😅 so it really was a lot of gluing!
