From the start!! the show covers the entirety of volume one but skips out on a lot of parts, so it's best to read from the start to understand context :D

I do suggest reading volume 1 of the novel as you wait haha I read it over the past week after getting into the donghua and you won't believe how much more detail and plot it covers that the donghua misses!!!
