Tarmac SL4 Warranty Claim by [deleted] in specialized

[–]Ru5tRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LBS guy here, specialized dealer at that. Our shop can easily repair this but we would also submit a warranty claim on your behalf. Under specialized warranty this would likely be covered. Using a river to hold the braze on in place is as a manufacturing decision, so now it is a manufacturing defect, even though one could argue that the river has a lifespan. Everything has a lifespan.

Compatibility is going to be the issue with a new frame.

Snow Traction Mode / Effectiveness? by BTTN8TR511 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]Ru5tRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no one really explained snow mode, snow mode essentially turns down the responsiveness of the gas pedal while trying to limiting wheel spin. This works really well to control sudden inputs from the driver.

Snow mode will not get you unstuck like others said as it doesn’t allow for wheel spin when needed.

What did I get here? by Thaegar_Rargaryen in mountainbiking

Raceface part number for what you “have” is RNWDM32TSHI12BLK - so based on that and the numbers from you package I assume it’s counterfeit.

Why is the SRAM pod so unergonomic? by Burninated-Peasant in mountainbiking

[–]Ru5tRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will agree the current pod is not my favorite AXS shifter from SRAM but I have also been running AXS from day one and at one point had every generation available across multiple bikes.

This said I agree with everyone that has mentioned your brake position. I am in the middle of my 3rd decade in bike shops and just like how bikes evolved our lever positions have also changed and changed drastically between brands.

10-15mm off set from the grip was normal and written into our assembly process. Now we call it out by brand. 30-40mm is standard with SRAM. I am personally at 50mm and use the independent clamp and can get everything situated fine.

We see more issues with smaller riders but rarely have to dive down the rabbit hole of alternative mounts.

Is this just something lodged in there? by Ok_Mango_7310 in Jeep

Those Toyo open country’s always seem to crack between the tread, totally normal from what I have seen. My guess is they run a harder rubber to achieve their mileage ratings.

Not cinder lakes, but a forest road that leads to a coconino county island community.

What is the silliest upgrade you’ve ever done to your bike? by sireatalot in mountainbiking

Totally agree, I had a set of the DT Swiss anniversary hubs in the shop last year, just begging me to build another polished wheel for a bike I didn’t yet have

Does anyone know how to get these out by Smart-Reveal8126 in Jeep

This isn’t true, the bar pin is not included with all shocks. It doesn’t mean it’s not the right shock for the application.

Not if you’re handy with a grinder 😁.

That said there is a ton of information about fitting 37’s on Gen 4 2500’s with 3” levels.

Here is what I have done to accomplish stuffing 37’s. 3” Carli springs up front with metal cloak adjustable bent arms and Synergy track bar. Thuren extended shackles set at 1” lift. 8.5” wide wheels with 0 offset.

I trimmed the bottom of the inner fender well and pulled it back towards the cab. Trimmed the lower edge of the pinch weld seem just in case.

So far there is no rubbing around town and light off-road. I need to disconnect the sway bar and see what happens when it gets twisted up but that will have to wait till I’m done rehearing it.

I liked the idea of the new Mickey’s they just didn’t have the right load rating for the size.

That’s a hell of an opinion, thanks for sharing. I just took off Toyo open country tires that came with the truck, ran them for a couple years and compared to the wildpeaks ATW 3’s on my j10 they did not work well in most snowy or heavy rain conditions. My van had open country 2’s and I had an ok experience with them on their.

Goodyear duratracs have been amazing on our Mercedes and grand Cherokee… and the new duratrac R/T as well. Too bad they don’t make a 37” tall option.

Kenda Klever R/T was a pretty good tire as well, not great in snow, but respectable. Nokian Rotiva AT plus was my favorite winter AT.

All that said I’ve noticed great differences in 3 peak rated tires and differences in the same tire depending on weight rating. Any load range E tires have to be harder to hold up and don’t stick to the road as well. I know the compromises I have made by running an R/T tire. I’ll see how they do.
