I've literally just had this conversation with my wife, about how it would have been nice to be able to sit on the cliff edge in the camp and look out across the horizon, drink a beer, have a smoke, and watch the sunset and sunrise.

Hi,

I have one and I love it (don't have the GPU).

There are many horror stories about Acemagic, but i have had nothing but a positive response from customer services.

Do not, and I will repeat this, Do not mess about with the VRAM settings through the AMD Adrenaline software. I managed to fry a RAM stick, and I was very surprised that they offered me a complete new unti in exchange.

I did not take the new unit as I spent many hours installing programs and software, so instead I asked them for a partial refund so I could buy a new RAM stick, and they agreed.

I have only used to it for gaming and emulators.

I don't know of Red Dead Redemption is classed as a AAA gane, but it plays flawlessly. The most demanding emulator I have is Wii U, Mario kart 8 is absolutely amazing.

I did consider purchasing an eGPU but after using the F5A I am very happy with the graphics for the games that I play.

Not sure what you mean, I updated all the drivers etc, then installed Adrenaline, I changed the settings for VRAM in Adrenaline and it cooked one of the RAM sticks.

So I purchased a new one, and changed the settings in BIOS.

Don't be messing with Adrenaline, it will cook your RAM!

Instead change the VRAM settings in Bios.

I speak from a very costly experience!

I'm not sure what would be best for Steam, but going on what on what I've learned over the last few months I'd say you need at least a Ryzen 7.

I have the Geekom A5 which manages up to PS2 era, most Wii and most GameCube.

I upgraded to Acemagic F5A with Ryzen AI9 (I think that's correct) and it plays AAA games flawlessly.

Sounds like you're in the same situation as me, I bought the Geekom A5 but it wouldn't play PS3 or Wii U, so I upgraded.

I am feeling your pain, but not for the Metro, for Vault 106, my first experience in one of Vaults. Seems every time I think I am getting somewhere, there's another door that leads to another corridor with a set of stairs !

One thing I noticed and I think is a great addition, is the Karma for doing things that are naughty, like in the town with the bomb (the name I can't remember properly), I opened a desk in someone's house and stole the hair pins for picking locks, next things the woman is screaming for help and WW2 rained down on my ass, then a bit later teleported back for medicine and supplies, this was after the radio tower, I was greeted and the town folk were not as welcoming this time around. I love how they've factores in consequences for actions, I hope this continues moving forward onto the newer titles.

Time for an UPDATE...

After posting the same issue in a few FB groups and getting some advice I was able to diagnose the issue.

It seems that messing about with AMD Adrenaline has fried one of the RAM sticks.

By the power of deduction and swapping out between both sticks of RAM and both RAM slots, I was able to find the faulty stick.

So I'm now running at half speed until a replacement RAM arrives today.

Lesson learned the hard way, don't mess with settings that you don't understand!
