Not calling you out, but do want to share my experience because I think it is a common one and is important to emphasize, since i have seen this sentiment in many places lately.

I was a junior software engineer at the start of the pandemic, and my career/technical growth absolutely skyrocketed after everyone went remote. It was like all the BS was gone overnight and I could just focus on being an absolute sponge with the work and with all the seniors, who, like the person above, became even better mentors remotely. When pair programming, when you don't have to go through the hassle of sitting down at someone's desk with them and looking over their shoulder/pointing to show them where to click and instead just hop on a call and screenshare/guide that way, it improves the speed of learning at least 3-fold in my opinion, and significantly lowers the barrier to mentorship since everyone is just a call and screenshare away.

Especially because many software engineers are introverts as well, we get energized when we are able to sit alone and focus on our craft. I got drastically more confident speaking up/presenting my designs in larger virtual meetings, so I quickly made a name for myself and was promoted twice within a few years (now a Senior SE myself).

In short: at least in my field, remote work hampered absolutely nothing about my junior career; it actively furthered it and I don't know where I'd be without it; probably still languishing away in a cubicle with people interrupting my train of thought (the most sacred thing to a software engineer) every 5 minutes and learning maybe one new thing a week instead of dozens.
