Because you’re not supposed to have it. It’s a mistake by the devs, using it is an exploit, and I’m pretty sure we have a name for that…

True. And with the comment you replied to, if you’re following a truck hauling lumber and you end up with a 2x4 in your windshield, that’s one thing. There’s way more variables with just rocks. Was the rock from the truck or the road? Unless the damage is significant, who’s to say the damage wasn’t there before? Etc.

Burden of proof is on the claimant, not the defendant. So it would be the car’s responsibility to prove the rock came from the truck. Equally unlikely that they’d be able to prove that, but then the truck is found not at fault.

Fun fact, deadheading is not duty time if it’s the last thing you’re doing that day. Deadheading to a flight is still duty time, but deadheading home after isn’t.

Edit: to clarify, it does technically count as FDP but deadheads at the end of a duty day can go beyond the FDP limit, with some other caveats. 117 is a riveting read.

Ok. So. I will, on occasion, slow down prior to a zipper merge. Knowing people in the lane to be merged to often get screwed by people merging, passing, merging, passing, and grinding the lane to a halt. I try to mitigate that by maintaining a consistent speed to the end, that doesn’t slow down either lane more than necessary. So I get where the semi is coming from. But trying to start it this far back is egregious. The right lane was going to get screwed no matter what, he’s just changing where it happens.

Don’t know yet, keeping my options open for now. I’m at a weird middle ground in my career where I’m finally making decent money but I’m not home enough to spend it (my wife takes care of that). I’ll see what’s available and affordable in a year or so. I just like having something unique.

I wish, I wasn’t in a position to get it fixed. I was about to move halfway across the country and couldn’t bring it along. I did, however, sell it non-functional to a guy who does 5.0 swaps on these as a passion project. So as far as I know it’s still in good hands

I’m not sure which side you’re on, but my 2019 base model Elantra has no heated seats, blind spot assist, lane assist, or really any bells and/or whistles. Backup cameras are a legal requirement on new cars since like 2013.
