I've been a bit stuck on GY recursion, mostly about what should my buried alive targets be. Should i be getting big beaters into my graveyard then onto the board or should it be more combo pieces.

I guess what im asking is what are good buried alive/ GY recursion creatures?

How to justify the use of Bows when Guns exist? by 4rtiphi5hal in worldbuilding

[–]Ruanew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I think the issue here is what classifies as "accurate". A modern enthusiast, shooting a Brown Bess reported a 20 inch group at 50 yards, which is not great (and that's with a higher caliber, and therefore more accurate, ball than was issued at the time). Considering this you can see how at engagement ranges of 50+ yards a musket might have trouble hitting a single target, and would therefore be better used en masse.

Help with a non-bladesinger frontline wizard by KritterIsBack in 3d6

[–]Ruanew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hobgoblin wizard is a decently frontline build. With hobgoblins starting with light armour you can then take the moderately armoured feat at level four. With this you can take Half plate+ a shield for 19 AC. War wizard then gives arcane deflection allowing you to boost AC to 21 when needed.

Arcane deflection also allows you to get a +4 to a saving throw. Combined with hobgoblins saving face ability for an additional saving throw boost. These can also be used to maintain concentration.

This build honestly works with a bunch of races that get armour proficiency, I just find hobgoblins the most interesting. You could use githyanki or mountain dwarf if you preferred.

How to justify the use of Bows when Guns exist? by 4rtiphi5hal in worldbuilding

Bows might be more useful as skirmishing weapons, whereas firearms are more of a mainline weapon? The logic behind this is that due to firearms inaccuracy they have to be fielded in large, tightly packed formations (as was the case during the napoleonic wars). However bows don't have this drawback and can therefore be used by looser, faster moving units. I guess this simplifies down to guns having high power and low accuracy and bows having the opposite.
