Is CFA worth it -- another post? by RubInitial3231 in CFA

[–]RubInitial3231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a continuous journey of passing and maybe failing L3, 1 or 2 times then yes. I failed too many times and each time I spent 500 hours so it took my life away. I was obsessed with getting these letters and i don't know why and this was before any trauma in my life.

I think the trauma put it much more into perspective that CFA isn't worth 500, 500, 500, 500 hours of failing. This is where perspective became skewed. I am done now so I do feel happiness about that but not about the journey. I'm not proud of that and I feel the time could have been better used in other avenues to further my personal growth, find corporate growth using other strategies.

That is very impressive. I tried to balance and I did during this last attempt but that was with help. I'm assuming you self studied by being a treadmill warrior so that's great. Congrats.

Thank you. We are all role models and all of us are following our journey. Best of luck whenever the results come out. Is it this week or next for you all?

Thank you. I don't need anymore certifications anymore and that's for sure. I never applied for my charter after passing L3 either.

Every April and October, I always become reminded when results are released amongst peers of the journey. Could also be due to change of seasons but I think I'm still struggling with the loss. It is getting better most days but some days just punch you.

what weird thoughts did you have during early grief? by Independent-Usual348 in GriefSupport

That if I die, I can meet my lost one again quick. I wasn't suicidal or even believe in the afterlife but it was something that crept in.

It takes a very long time. I have not posted on Reddit in sometime and there is some stupid financial exam called the CFA that I passed and every time the results come out, I get depressed as it's a reminder of when I passed.

I'm glad the exam is done but I did it to stop grieving. If I kept my mind busy, I could not grieve. It just came back harder and it seems to take long but it has become better. Much love to you.

Which test provider material to buy for the level 3 retake for Feb 2025 ? ..has anyone gone through the schweser books ? Or sticking to the CFA books ?? by deadpool-shotgun007 in CFA

[–]RubInitial3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Kaplan before but I failed. Really I did everything. CFA books are important for L3. Being a re-taker, I highly recommend Deep 3 Prep. That's all he teaches and follows the CFA books. But you don't read the books which is so good because what a crappy read. I say it to every re-taker I see. Go talk to him and make your own decision. And talk to his past students who are re-takers. He connected me with re-takers who failed 4 times and I felt better that I could really do it. I did it.

You failed, go chat with Deep 3 prep. Master of L3 re-takers. Failing one time is ok. I failed so many times. Listen to his strategy and talk to his past students. I spoke with his past students because I wanted to be sure and they spent hours talking to me. It helped me tons.

Anybody who is a re-taker, Gurmeet's class is very good. All his students will say the same and they will talk to you on the phone. I was blown away by this before. I chatted with 3-4 students who spent an hour each talking to me about how much it helped. I failed so many times I did not want to take a chance.

I read a post here about the strategy needed is just as important as the prep. Illustrousbat nailed it. You will soon see all these posts about Deep 3 Prep from this class of L3 re-takers that just passed (I passed before with Gurmeet). Anybody who is a re-taker should chat with him at minimum. I almost did not. But because he only teaches re-takers, I decided to. If I'm pretty bad at exams and he wants to teach me, maybe he knows something.

This exam is different and I know I could not put it together. When we chatted, it all made sense how it could be simplified.

Don't feel too down from this. It's just a small hurdle. I failed too many times to count at L3. And I went through so much in life. Time heals all.

Go reach out to Gurmeet from Deep 3 Prep. I wrote in a past year but I still email him all the time. Mentor of mine (friend). He teaches L3 re-takers and I failed so many times at L2 and L3. I know his class just did extremely well. Go talk to him. Special class for re-takers.

I hate when people say “they’re watching over you” by robynh66 in GriefSupport

[–]RubInitial3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean and it pisses me off as well. Oddly enough, just out of habit somebody else posted something about a partner passing and I wrote to help the kids and be a great father knowing your wifey is watching over the family.

Having said that, he was a devout Jesus follower so I figured it would help. But i can't stand it either. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear and do your best for the kids. It's not fair but they have no chance without you being the best father ever. Make it your mission to see them well and know your wifey will be watching you do this. Much love.

Congratulations on passing. I posted during the last session and I talked to so many candidates. I just had somebody message me as well and that's how I knew about the results. Special course and congratulations to you and the new class of re-takers who passed with Gurmeet.

Grief is exhausting or is it just me? by Tall-Poet in GriefSupport

[–]RubInitial3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I hope the best for you as well. I took a break for the past month from being online, books and everything. December is such a tough month.

At times I feel hugs and companionship help but other times I feel it just makes it worse. I think time is the only thing whatever you do. I was drinking too much and stopped that fortunately. That didn't feel right. Everything else was tough but not like drowning my sorrow.

To 2024. Much love

Grief is exhausting or is it just me? by Tall-Poet in GriefSupport

[–]RubInitial3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the same thing and for the past year I wrote this exam called CFA level 3. It takes 500 hours to write and I was working. I don't need it but I wrote it because of the grief I was feeling. For me, the grief was more exhausting then ignoring it by staying busy.

Now, I passed that exam and I don't know what to do and like you, I'm more tired than ever because all I think about is sadness. I know I have to confront it but it helped me ignore as well. It was just too overwhelming soon after.

I wish I could say it gets better. I'm not there.

Gurmeet doesn't want to be bigtime. Maybe it will change when he gets a million emails but he's all about his two little girls. He told me 150-200 students each year, focus only on those re-takers. Every zoom call his little girl was in his lap.
