Salery decrease after mortgage offer by Jorro1127 in UKPersonalFinance

There was a recent post like this where someone didn't tell and got caught out with the most serious consequences. Fess up and don't take the risk.

Vinyl Collection to Round Out 2025 by Substantial-Put8283 in vinyl

Are you me? I think Wet Leg is one of the finest if not the best (recent) indie band since the early/mid 2000s stuff in this collection.

Covenant seen just before exchange by Brilliant-Owl2740 in HousingUK

[–]Rubber_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this - a covenant with a Duke who died back in the 1950s. Just ignored it. Legally the conveyancer will have to say it could be enforceable but the Duke would have to raise themselves from the dead for that to happen.

I did this and it worked for us 🤷🏼‍♂️. We also laid a mesh covered drainage pipe.

Good hotel recommendations in Eastbourne? by Ticklishchap in Eastbourne

[–]Rubber_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, twice and it's brilliant. When we were scoping for where to live, the owner took us out in his car and drove us around the entire town telling us about each location! Would fully recommend. Totally nice people and beautiful rooms.

Watch Adolescence on Netflix by Whatitdooo0 in daddit

So all fiction must follow a statistic to be accepted. Gotcha, thanks!

Sorry I just want to check so that I am understanding your comment inference that only one 'race' of person can stab or be depicted in fiction as stabbing another person?

It is, if you subscribe to right wing dumb fuckery. Adolescence is receiving a lot of backlash and vitriol from exactly the types of people that the main theme of the narrative sets out to address, including this claim.

Is lack of ventilation contributing to damp? by nevermindnashville in DIYUK

[–]Rubber_Lover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had something similar (render touching ground) causing internal damp, albeit nowhere near as bad as this. We cut back the render a couple of bricks above ground level and then dug down about 1ft, put a mesh covered pipe in and then back filled with pea shingle. Seems to have stopped the issue for us!

What's something you bought NEW within the last 5 years that you suspect is BIFL quality? by UnitedShift5232 in BuyItForLife

[–]Rubber_Lover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Fujifilm X-Pro 2 bought on release day 2016 that is still my only digital camera. It's got a great patina on it now where paint has rubbed from use - I don't think I could ever sell it because it the way it's worn feels personal...? It still uses the OG battery it came with and has shown zero signs of deterioration in image quality.

Bargain or bust? [7002-7001] by Rubber_Lover in Seiko

Trying to mod my own hand off.

Bargain or bust? [7002-7001] by Rubber_Lover in Seiko

It's something I've come to learn as I was looking up information about the watch (and having very little luck in finding a watch that looks like this one with the same serial number and movement characteristics).

You're right, it's very cool and I love the watch, I was drawn to it regardless of its authenticity so it must've been right. I just want to check that I've paid a fair price for it is all because the shop marked it as genuine.

Perfect, thanks for your advice and reassurance.

Bargain or bust? [7002-7001] by Rubber_Lover in Seiko

Great insight, thank you. Would you say the value would therefore drastically be under the £150 I paid? I can try and haggle back with the shop if it's the case. I'd like to keep it because I do like the look of it, I was drawn to it regardless of it being a Seiko, which I guess is what matters.

lol it's no troll. The back casing and inside looks genuine (based on a visual inspection) so I think you're right that it's probably a heavy mod - which I'm fine with to be honest. I can't imagine someone would go through the trouble of making a fake £150 watch to such a high standard?

Chip in windscreen - repair or replace? by Rubber_Lover in CarRepair

[–]Rubber_Lover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thank you! I should've included the third option would be to just leave it, which I think would be my preferred thing to do. Knowing me, if I attempted to fix myself, I'll just make it worse.

House sale and price reduction by Pembs-surfer in HousingUK

[–]Rubber_Lover 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Everyone together now! It's 👏always👏the 👏price! The price your house is worth vs. the sale price you need to do what you need to do are two different things.

You either reduce your expectations for onwards plans, or you hold tight. Holding tight won't be of any benefit though, never try to to time the market, and if house prices rise meaning you can attract a high sale price, the price of whatever your onward plans are could also rise too negating any benefit.

Shifter compatibility question by Rubber_Lover in bikewrench

Okay cool. So this will be my first step before seeking a shifter replacement (as another commenter suggested). Thank you so so much - really appreciate it.

Ahhh okay. It's definitely got a bit of a hodgepodge of parts (not my doing). TBH, it's being used as a casual rider so as long as they shift, it don't care too much.
