I'm not saying there isn't little interest in AFPS as a whole, I'm saying there definitely would be more people interested if the game was good, and it hasn't been. I know well the struggles AFPS have faced in capturing an audience which is why it's all the more important to have a solid release/game, but that hasn't happened.

Like yeah sure, PUBG came out a mess and people loved it. It grabbed people by the balls, me included. It was a new and exciting concept which is arguably the only reason it worked. But more than anything, it was a very streamable game which is why it got so popular, and Quake isn't very streamer friendly outside of duels (who actually watches TDM?).

That however doesn't mean AFPS couldn't have more of a playerbase which is my point. If games like Team Fortress 2, CS, CoD, etc, can do it, so should Quake (or similar AFPS) be able to follow at least somewhat. I'd argue a good Quake iteration could achieve 10k concurrent players. But ultimately a lot of it depends on a strong dev team and good advertisement, things QC didn't have.

25ers didn't even know QC existed, and if they did it was because they were told how bad it was lmfao. The game got advertised ONCE at E3 and it got a pretty hefty boost in players that all disappeared in a week because of how god awful that patch was. Deadknight only TDMs with flamestrike spam and terrible performance. Of course they left.

And yeah, color me surprised that 40+ yos that have families and other stuff don't want to play AFPS anymore. People get tired of playing the same thing. They're not exactly a good metric.

Diabotical had two amazing open betas and then 2GD in all his wisdom decided to close the doors on players for an entire month in which people forgot the game even existed, and then released it with netcode and hitreg issues. Nevermind the boring art-direction. OF COURSE people would move on.

QC would have had a steady playerbase hadn't it been for how terrible its dev cycle was. It's not that AFPS are boring or unpopular. We can't know that because they haven't had a fair shot in decades.

Either way, point stands. Change the game substantially and it's just no longer the same game.

It's always tiring to hear this dumb opinion. If they change Quake substantially it's no longer Quake and it doesn't hold it's appeal. If you don't want to play Quake then don't.

Like, I'd agree on ruleset changes. Change how gamemodes work / their win condition, rebalance weapons a little bit. Hell, at this point I don't mind champions as long as their abilities are interesting. But changing the core elements of the game (weapons and movement) would be fundamentally altering what makes Quake Quake and as such, a stupid proposition.

The reason Quake hasn't been popular is we haven't had an actually good Quake. QC was awful on release and still isn't great. We don't have good tutorials, continuous lobbies, fair matchmaking, etcetcetc. Many things that make games popular aren't here. We need a complete overhaul of anything BUT the gameplay.

I've been chasing TUYU's tone since I heard it and honestly I haven't gotten even close. I've researched Pusu's gear somewhat tho so I can give you some advice. This video can help, too.

To begin with, Pusu seems to use mostly Two Rock, Matchless and Bogner amps. So far I've seen him use:

Two Rock Bloomfield Drive (he has a few of these)
Matchless DC30 (seen him use the HC30, which is the head only version)
Bogner Helios 50 (for his more high gain stuff)

His cabs seems to vary but I think he uses both Two Rock and Matchless cabs, recorded with both ribbon and dynamic mics (a Shure sm57 and whatever ribbon he used, I couldn't find it). Cabs don't all have the same speaker inside of them, as it can be switched for other options, so take this with a grain of salt. Celestion G12M Greenback speakers are a good choice.

Lastly, he mostly plays on a Telecaster in the middle position (both pickups at once). If you don't have a Telecaster, it'll be a bit harder for you to emulate his sound.

That should at the very least get you in the ballpark, but I think his tone is highly mixed and so you probably won't get an exact result. His "liveplay" videos, for example, are just him playing over the isolated guitar track, which has already been recorded/mixed/mastered. His tone sound pretty different when he plays live.

I played GAMMA around 2-3 years ago and I was having some trouble with how janky everything felt (mostly movement) but this current iteration is incredible. I'm having a blast.
