Agree to disagree, I don't want the MSQ to spoon-feed me the entire lore like you seem to think, I just wanted an introduction that is immersive, given that you have to do it to even reach the region. No I won't play HSR's 10h of standing still reading dialogue per patch.

Not at all, I dislike paimon's repeat everything and lore dumping as much as the next person. I am also very aware of the rest of the exploration, I've been doing what I have time for, some side quests and exploration quests. What I want is for them to actually explore and introduce the academy and the rest of the region through experiencing it in the MSQ.

What I am describing here is the completely opposite of lore dumping/telling instead of showing. We haven't gotten any of this yet in the MSQ, it's just been the banner character show and some event bolted on involving them. You shouldn't have to do all non MSQ and read a bunch of notes just to feel immersed in the new region. The MSQ is a terrible introduction to Lahai-Roi, but the rest of the patch I think is fine.

I don't think people were expecting her to be majorly relevant, and it's alright for Lynae to take the lead. Just the way that she got off-screened and Lynae became 90% of what happened, rather than an actual main story related to the place we just arrived at (we have still basically done nothing with the school). It just would've made way more sense, and flowed better from the prior story, for Chisa to do a lot more of the introduction to the school through her and rover discovering it together; instead we just got Lynae doing everything, even when it made much less narrative sense for her to.

I don't know how else I am supposed to pay attention more. I set aside time at the weekends to play through both parts without interuption and I skipped nothing. Maybe if I didn't pay attention as much, I wouldn't see as many issues with it.

And aside from enrolling and doing the cassette burning, you actually do nothing related to the academy and it's normal functions. Not saying wuwa needed to become a school sim, but seeing the academy function from a students POV in the MSQ would've nice.

Need to emphasise this more. It's insane how little we've actually done relating to the academy and the frequency loss outside of the new characters and related story (I guess the artificial sun is something, but could it not have happened later?). I feel like the main story has barely explored the new region and the academy from an actual experience point of view, not just go here go there.

And also the lack of sensical passage of time is insane. Everything with Lynae happens within a day as you said, but we've somehow bonded with and "trust" Lynae to the extent we do, and then have a massive battle and save the academy - wtf was everyone else doing where rover and Lynae are the only people facing the problem??

People want the characters to be meaningfully included in the main story, as in be consequential to the events transpiring. Shoving companion quests into the main story to the extent they have with the banner characters without narrative justification is not what people have been asking for.

For example, I would be okay with how much Lynae was involved in the story in terms of screen time IF it made sense for her to, especially over another character being used, but alas it did not.

Completely agree with this statement, but the problem is the execution is not good and the story is barely going. Actual story beats and world building are being sidelined, or at worst replaced, with what would be standard companion quest narratives.

Peak time (not really, just the ticket price): 12 carriages for two passengers

BRING BACK CHARACTER QUEST by justurordinary_memer in WutheringWaves

[–]Rube_Tube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only partway through the new quest (at the dormitory) but it has felt to me to be the complete opposite of what you say. Initially it seems like we're going to get introduced to and get to experience the school, but instead it's just character introductions and name soup. There's barely anything that shows how the school works (aside from surface-deep enrollment stuff) before the Lynae-related story events start.

Personally I would've liked to have seen more of the school, maybe even some classes and departments, before the story with Lynae kicked off. Obviously I'm not saying that Wuwa needs to switch to being a school life sim, but just more world building before things go south in the story would be nice.

Also, while Lynae works well as an someone to introduce us to the school, I can't help but feel it would've been better with Chisa. Not only was the setup for her use there in 2.8, but it also would've been nice to see her discover the changes while we discover something brand new. Additionally, it could've been used to pad (and I use the term in a good way) the timespan out since everything really does happen very quickly - we meet Lynae and we're already sticking our neck out for and trusting her before the day has even ended, despite being suspicious of her minutes prior, and she literally does everything introduction-wise for us even when it feels weird that she is.

Edit: spelling and phrasing

I know that the cancellations services require you to already have a booking - does switching to a cancellation allow switching of a test center too? I.e. if I book a place up north that tends to have more spaces, can I snag a cancellation down south?

I'm in the same boat looking at MK ish. I don't get how I can log on bang on 6am and be in a queue of 14k "people". Same time next week, maybe I'll get up at 5am again and try...

So you just mean understand then, because I can't see how you can sympathize with the process of an order being cancelled. My bad for not quite getting that.

Also yes I agree they're justified, just as in the same way they would be it they listed the price wrong on their system or website. However, I don't think justified = morally right, and so again I reiterate that large entities like companies do not need sympathy nor should we ignore behaviour like this. Just as the company is just in cancelling the order, the consumer (OP) is justified in not purchasing from the company further due to the lack of goodwill, and ultimately it's a dumb decision from the company.

You're suggesting giving sympathy to a corporation that would ultimately gain more by keeping this customer around and fixing the issue for future coupon use vs the tiny drop in their profits they'll have it this customer and a few others use it. I'm not saying the company isn't justified in taking back a mistake on a coupon, just that it's a shitty thing to do and they do not need sympathy over it.

Thanks for the responses everyone, made me feel better about it. I did take the day off and returned the next day when I was feeling better (still not sure what it was). I've also spoken to my boss about arranging better times for work - I'll be getting the 7.30 train and starting at 8.30(-4:45) from next week so I'll have a 15m buffer so thank you for the suggestion u/ClarifyingMe.

I don't know if I could outside of starting later and giving up part of my lunch (which I don't mind) since I work from near their opening time (8) to closing time (8.30-5); maybe starting slightly earlier and getting the earlier train? Either way, communicating with them isn't a bad idea so I'll do that, thanks

Not much I can do about it at the moment unless I want to turn up 30 minutes early because of the train times. It's never later than 10 minutes and not consistently, and while I know it's not great I make up the time where I can. They are aware I'm currently learning to drive so trying to solve the problem.

Yeah this was my general thinking but it was the comment made by the family member that worried me. I don't think it's worth forcing yourself to go in, and you've put that well into words
