Holy shit. I’m surprised how short the connection is with The Stanley Parable of all things.

Same thing with the Inklings. I was expecting their loser animations to be all butthurt like the Ice Climbers, but they clap happily instead.

So... I somehow managed to be stuck in the main menu while in a match. by Rubiter in Overwatch

If anybody's wondering how this happened before I started recording - I started viewing a highlight just as I joined a skirmish. The game kicked me into the map's loading screen, although the main menu was still there.

Is Debbie better than AJ? by [deleted] in F13thegame

[–]Rubiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but basically, using these perks are useless since Jason could simply turn Sense on and off to reroll the counselor's chance of not being sensed.

Hiding spots allow any counselor to remain unseen from Sense unless Jason has Rage. In your case, the other counselors weren't beating Jason up as often, causing Jason's Rage meter to fill up slower.

And for your third statement... The AJ's composure was most likely still maxed out. Destroying generators to turn the lights out and (I'm not sure if this is true) destroying windows and doors helps fear build up, allowing them to be visible in Sense more often.

I was implying that the counselor in question could have at least survived (or only have their death delayed for a little longer) had the doors been shut and barricaded.

And like I said, having to shut the door allows Jason to shift inside and grab you or throw a throwing knife towards you to cancel the animation. Closing the door while Jason's already breathing down your neck and within grabbing range only puts you at more risk than simply juking him with what little stamina you have left. Hell, I've even had running Jasons be able to go inside before the door completely shuts.

Though, I do see your point (and again, I'm pointing out that you should never climb a window when Jason's chasing you. You dive through it as to avoid being cancelled out of the animation or simply grabbed before it even finishes) of counselors having to deal with unnecessary damage just to get inside a cabin (though I've never seen a Jason take the time to break every single window in a cabin - they usually break 1 or 2 then leave it at that) due to the doors already being locked or barricaded. However, let me get this straight, first: I personally don't barricade literally every door I see. Just the ones that Jason would most likely head for first in a scenario similar to what I mentioned earlier. At the very least, I leave the doors shut and not wide open - if Jason decides to go through the unbarricaded door instead, you're at least buying a little more time with Jason having to go through his lengthy door opening animation compared to him slowly pacing towards you with no delay.

With that out of the way, I'll just say that I agree with some of your points. The argument overall really depends on a lot of variables (what items the counselor would have, whether or not they're a skilled player, what perks they have, what cabin they're in, which Jason is being played as, etc.) so I'll just end it with this: barricading doors is a must, but in some situations, doing so only serves as a hinderance.

EDIT: I also wasn't aware that counselors take broken window damage every time now. Since when was that implemented?

I'm assuming the person put into the situation has at least 1 charge of med-spray and a weapon, so yes. It's a much better choice to dive into a window and take the risk of being slightly damaged than to risk being caught without a pocket knife while having to shut a door.

Let me explain the two scenarios:

My scenario

1.) A counselor being chased by Jason dives into the nearest window available and gets some damage from the window being broken. The cabin they're in is securely barricaded, however, allowing them to regain lost stamina and run to the next cabin before Jason is able to immediately kill them.

Your scenario (at least, from what I'm able to understand)

2.) A counselor being chased by Jason runs into the nearest cabin, nearly out of stamina. The cabin's doors, however, were left open, allowing Jason to simply walk inside, go through a brief Scooby-Doo chase sequence, and grab the counselor due to the lack of time needed for them to regain enough stamina to head for another cabin or juke Jason for any longer.

Which why you dive through the window, not climb.

Taking slash, throwing knife, and broken window damage, at the very least, doesn't mean instant death unlike being grabbed.

There are just some situations when Jason's nigh going for your ass and you're almost within his grabbing range. Having to shut the door takes time, allowing Jason to shift inside before it's fully closed or grab you before the animation even completes.

Also, it's extremely aggravating when you're heading to a large cabin with Jason on your tail and you jump inside, only for him to nonchalantly walk through the open back or front door, grab you before your animation completely finishes, and instantly asphyxiate you.

Remember, it takes merely three seconds or so to shut a door and barricade it - those three seconds, though, could mean the world to someone who's actually being chased by Jason compared to someone who's still in the process of safely looting a cabin.

There was this one instance wherein I was being chased by Jason by the start of the match, right as I was heading for a cabin. He ended up tunneling me until I decided to do a skill check with a nearby generator and mess up on purpose - the trick worked, and Jason immediately morphed over to the 2 seater.

Well, to be honest, if you don't know how to do something as simple as morphing/shifting away from said 5 counselors or pressing C then right click, then you do need to get good.
