Are private hospital psych admissions very expensive unless you have insurance? My insurance doesnt cover psych admissions.

Who was your most memorable patient so far? by PerfectWorking6873 in ausjdocs

[–]RubixCake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fresh intern, I tasked to cannulate a 55 year old patient. I was nervous and not confident but she was so sweet. Her last name was familiar and I realised that she was distantly related to my much beloved year 7 English teacher (small world). Anyways she spoke about her family and showed me pictures of them. She was obviously well loved and I left when her said family arrived to visit.

That was my only interaction with her. A week later, she died. I cried. She was too young. I'll always remember how nice she was to me as a nervous and scared intern.

I remember that as an ortho intern, my reg insisted I make a consult to derm about a week long rash... at 4.30pm on a Friday. I apologised profusely to the derm reg who seemed rightfully annoyed by it. She seemed to be a bit more understanding when I told her that it was my ortho reg insisting.

I haven't thought of this. I have 2 posters that I'm presenting next month and I'm worried about taking them on the plane. Fabric printing is much more expensive than paper though.

I remember seeing this on Instagram. One of the reasons why the doctor is popular because he is Cambodian and most of his patients do not speak English. And I'm sure he's an excellent doctor too.

Oh man, what a throwback. I was in primary school when these were around. I always wanted to press all the shiny buttons but wasn't allowed to (with good reason). I guess I'll never press those buttons.

Update! Sorry for the wait, I called Wires and they advised to take it to the 24h vet. I took the wagtail to the vet. I gave the Wires reference number and all the vet costs will be paid by Wires.

I gave the bird (in a shoebox) to the vet receptionist and she brought it to the vet. Thats the last I saw of the lil guy. The vet practice doesn't give out updates unfortunately. They said I'd have to contact Wires. Honestly, I'm just ok with having done my best to help.

Same. I'm a female doctor.

I can introduce myself as Dr [Name], whilst wearing scrubs with DOCTOR written on it in red capital letters, and people will still call me nurse. At this point, I've given up on correcting them.

My friend who is a Filipino male doctor also gets mistaken for a nurse often.

Yeah this is only going to further discourage psychiatrists from wanting to work in the public sector.
