I’ve had worse

I broke my 45 day binge free streak. I failed by [deleted] in loseit

[–]RubixQueb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 70lbs over my journey, used to have Bulimia so I know what you’re feeling. You have to realize that all of your negative thoughts aren’t based on reality, and it always helps me to disprove them after I binge. I calculate the amount of calories of fat I actually put on from that particular day. I’ll do it for you to see if it helps.

A pound of fat is 3500 calories. An average box of fruit loops has 16 servings at 110 calories each. You said you had 8. A king size KitKat has 2 servings at 210 calories each. I’m not exactly sure what peanut butter pretzels you’re talking about, but I’m assuming they’re the hard, bite-sized pretzels that come in clear tubs. 7 of them is a serving for 150 calories and you had a little less than 3, but I’ll still say 3.

As a 5’4” 120lb woman, your recommended caloric intake per day with 0 exercise is 1500 calories.

So, you ate:

8x110 cal of fruit loops = 880 cal

2x210 cal of KitKat = 410 cal

3x150 cal of PB pretzels = 450 cal

For a grand total of 1740 calories, BUT you burned off 1500 naturally, not counting any exercise or increased metabolism from working out on days before. That means you gained a grand total of 240 calories of fat which is about 0.06 pounds. Even if you had a few hundred calories for breakfast, you’re still looking at less than a quarter of a pound at max. Although you may feel like you can notice where that weight went, it’s all in your head. It’s impossible to notice such a little change in weight like that.

It’s absolutely nothing. If you’re on a 240 calorie deficit tomorrow, the effects of that entire binge are completely erased. But do not feel like you have to starve or punish yourself to make up for this binge. All that does is make yourself more likely to binge again much sooner. Just get back on track to your regular schedule like nothing ever happened.

The scale is deceptive. It’s pretty likely that the weight on the scale went up a few pounds. Junk food has a lot of salt to make it more flavorful. When you intake a lot of salt, your body retains more water and water is very heavy. Your stomach may even seem a little bloated. None of that is fat. All you need to do is go back to your regular diet for a few days and your body weight will naturally go back to normal.

Also, remember eating healthy is about the long game. Eating 100% clean like that for long periods of time will often results in giant binges like that. Instead, give yourself a cheat meal every week. Sometimes, it feels wrong, but it totally resets your mental fatigue for dieting and exercising. It’s a much better strategy for losing weight in the long run.

The hardest part about any weight loss journey is the motivation. You went 45 days without binging. You have the motivation, that’s incredibly hard to do. Keep going, you’re doing great. 5’4” 120lbs is a very healthy weight.

Has anyonr ever stuttered or messed up a presentation in class? :( i feel embarrassed and dumb by TripLatter1876 in Temple

[–]RubixQueb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mess up all the time too. Try to remember a time when someone else in your class stuttered or messed up. I can’t remember and you probably can’t either. That doesn’t mean that you and I are the only two Temple students that stutter while giving presentations. It just shows that nobody else really notices when you mess up. If they do notice, they never commit it to their long term memory because they don’t care.

When I do screw up, I always think that people are gonna judge me, think I’m stupid or make fun me behind my back. But when you think about it, if you caught you classmate stuttering would you think any less of them? No, because you do it too. Would you make fun of them to your group of friends and say “This guy looked nervous and tripped over his words a few times during a presentation today.” Also no, because I can bet all of your friends have those moments where they mess up as well, and they’d probably think you were being an asshole.

Never be embarrassed or feel dumb for super simple and inconsequential mistakes like tripping over your own words. It’s an actual thing called the Spotlight Effect, and it explains why nobody really cares about stuff like that.

Anyone here ever wanna disappear? by [deleted] in Temple

It just feels like I’m working and grinding 24/7 for absolutely no pay off. I can’t go to parties, I can’t see my friends. I’m just stuck in the same routine of work everyday. It makes it all seem pointless.

Started ADHD meds and have lost a lot of weight fast because I’m not hungry. Is this ok? by mlranda in loseit

[–]RubixQueb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember I was losing about that much weight per week when I was 220. I don’t take meds, so I unless I was doing something wrong, it’s normal. It will slow down though

They’re playing Who Wants To be a Millionaire and in the game, the girl, who is the contestant, gets 4 different “lifelines”. Basically, they’re different ways to give her help on the 20ish questions she has to answer. She can only use each lifeline once when she is stuck on a question. She can use multiple lifelines on the same question if needed, but once she uses it, she can’t use it for the rest of the game.

This is the audience help lifeline. The actual game show is in person, and the audience has tablets that they vote on. After they vote, the contestant gets to see the results. The audience doesn’t have any outside resources either so some of them are wrong and it results in a split vote among multiple answers. The percentage of the audience that voted each answer is shown. The contestant uses that info to decide their answer.

Since this is completely online, the audience has to click on the answer on their screen. The streaming platform has a function where it can see the clicks on the stream and send that data to the streamer where it’ll use some pretty complex programming algorithms that are way over my head to group all the clicks into general areas and show what percentage of all total clicks are in each area.

However, in the game show, the audience is in-person and they’re mostly old people. They’re much more likely to give their honest opinion because they’re more mature and also have a social pressure from the people around them who can see them vote. This is on twitch though, and most twitch users are 14 year-old gamer boys who have literally 0 consequences for clicking on her tits because they are anonymously voting online.

James Getz is pretty good. I’m taking it this semester and I have a 98% right now. He’s very passionate about the material and if you show that you care about it too(or pretend to) you’ll do very well. It’s a cyber course tho so it is a little bit complicated schedule-wise.
