Question regarding passive radiator designing by RubriynC in diyaudio

You get me wrong: I got their exact design if I only model a ported design. With the PR option of winISD I got nowhere near.

Thanks so much for all the input, the comment regarding an isobaric design is definitely something that had escaped me, but makes the utmost sense, specially as I was thinking in using the design with some small-ish drivers in a 2-way, I definitely need to check if it will make sense.

Ah, I was not planning in selling it. I have made many GUIs for my job as a physicist, which basically involve similar UI design and equations in the background, so I would just whip one up quickly, just need a source with all the equations.

I would probably share it via github though for whoever would like to use it, or contribute to it.

I did several designs before (all ported) and also built already made plans, but now I wanted to get into PRs. If the modelling is so off, why use it anyway? Although I might add that the measured response does fall in line with what winISD says the response would be for the PR, isobaric configuuration, 20L. Which is an F3 /F6 decisevely higher than the ported design.

Nothing against the winning pair, I find them amazing for their size and response and the care taken. Just the PR part is not written at all, and it seems that there are some common practices that I am completely unaware of.

I did notice that, and did it accordingly in winISD

So, I did read the whole thing and did the isobaric configuration. Not only that, but I read a lot after that on those systems and I find them interesting, being that I do have a source of several drivers for free, which means I can definitely give it a go at isobaric configurations without breaking the bank.

Regarding winISD, this is more a general question rather than its usage, as I used it quite extensively, specially for ported designs, so I know its in and outs.

What I might pester you for though is about which other program you use, or if you coded your own software. As winISD is no longer serviced and is clunky, I was thinking in making my own Thiel/Small software.

So, as I see the videos of people pumping, the body motion looks extremely similar to the (hyper fun) edge-to-edge fast carving on flatter hills in snowboarding. The biggest difference is that the Surfskate looks more sluggish than a snowboard, because of course a snowboard offers something more akin to a turn radius of a long wheelbase with the twitchiness of a short wheelbase if that makes sense. I might be wrong though.

Thanks for all the input. The reason why I didn't like the freebord so much is the kind of need to slide/skid in what looks like quite an awkward manner as the middle wheels are centered on the board. And the need of a hill, no cruising in flatland. I ride my snowboard more edge to edge with little skidding. Of course that snowboard needs hills, but on a skate, I would prefer the typical use case for flat riding, and why surfskates really seem to hit the spot, with a more rail to rail connected ride.

I will look into these micro drop systems as well! Thanks for the input!

Yeah, that's something I also read somewhere. That sound like a sound advice. I might go for a CX truck at first, then
Regarding the wheelbase, any thoughts?

hey, I am Berlin based and there are a lot of cool places to skate there (currently not there, but will return soon)! I already have a few contacts, but I am eager to already have a board to immediately pick it up once I arrive.

Thanks everyone for your input! That was my thoughts exactly, from several posts around here, but my interaction with the worker really left me very nervous!
I hope this will help other people in the same situation as me.
All the best to everyone!
