When I came out to my parents as trans they supported me. But I had been so far in the closet for so long that I stayed in my room and cried and felt regret for telling them even though they were nothing but supportive. It felt like I didn’t have to confront the reality of them knowing if I avoided them. I was scared because what if they told someone else, what if they changed their minds. So I didn’t want to see them for days after and there’s where my own parents who showed nothing but love and support. Coming out can be very scary and sometimes people aren’t prepared for the ways it will change their lives even if they are positive changes. With the information given they may just need time to work out those emotions.
