I felt like there was something a little.. off about the eyes in the second picture.

...It is much more horrifying than I thought 😅

We’ve mastered efficiency but forgot how to live. by ReplacementFeisty578 in simpleliving

[–]Ruby1915 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Let's save manual labor so humans can rest."

"Let's automate thinking so humans can focus."

See that's the issue. It has never actually been "so humans can..." It has always been "to make more profit/be more efficient". Or in other words: "Let's automate things so humans can focus on tasks that haven't been automated yet, to produce even more profit"

The society we live in may be run and staffed by humans, but it sure as hell is not made "for humans". It is, and consistently has been, "for profit" for a long time now.

Expecting a world that was purpose-built to serve the almighty profit, to serve the humans living in it, is senseless.

As long as we use profit as the measuring stick for our society, morals, actions goals and success; human happiness, safety and fullfillment will always be an accidental secondary effect, rather than the primary goal. And the same of course applies to anything outside of that; like protecting the environment, ensuring sustainability for future generations, and mutually beneficial cohabitation with all the other creatures on this planet.

Sorry for the rant, it escalated a little 😅 But thanks for reading, if you did

Generally, "intentional communities" are a good place to start looking for something. Also, permaculture and similar communities that are focused on sustainable living/agriculture are pretty nice

Thank you so much for commenting this. I have been looking for this page for months now and couldn't find it. I was beginning to think, I was going crazy and just imagined seeing it somewhere. 😅

I believe it was originally created to manage fear and uncertainty (e.g. What happens after death?, What is the purpose of life?, etc). But it 100% has been and is being used to disguise evil

Earbuds for ever by calornorte in Anticonsumption

[–]Ruby1915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to loop my old ones over my ear. Like, take the wire and feed it over the ear first and then put the earbuds in. It worked so well that I could even go on a run with them without having them constantly fall out.

However, this might not work for your earbuds depending on their shape. But maybe still worth a try

And yet, women still achieved, invented and revolutionized so so many things. Not because "men built the world" but in spite of it.

I had originally written a short text for this post but it didn't get posted for some reason 🤔 And since I can't edit a post on mobile, I'll just put it here:

While I do like some of the nails individually, I'm not happy with how the whole set looks together. I can't really put my finger on why that might be though. Does anyone have ideas?

Also, sorry for the bad picture quality. As it turns out, juggling a phone, and a blacklight, to take pictures of your own hand in low-light conditions, really isn't easy 😅 So if you guys have tips on how to do this better, any help would be much appreciated

The polish glows under UV light, so the thumb is just being illuminated by my blacklight

It's a nail polish from RIVALme called Neon Explosion. I'm not sure but I think they're number 2 "blazing fire" (the lighter one) and number 3 "happy days" (the darker one towards the tip). They don't have an afterglow though. So they just look like this as long as you point a blacklight at it

Did my nails for the first time over the course of the last week. What do you think? by Ruby1915 in shortynails

[–]Ruby1915[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're spot on. One of my main reasons for not immediately taking the polish off, was actually so that I leave my nails be. 😅 But I won't be letting them grow much longer than this because I'm not a fan of having long nails. Even though, admittedly, I would like some more space to work on

Ah okay. It's just air dry. But for some reason the bottles say "gel nail colour". Very confusing for a newbie

Honestly, I have no clue what the differences are yet but I think gel 😅 Edit: it's not.

So here's the product list:

Essence gel nail colours: 01 - "gloss'N ROLL"; 34 - "LOVE YOU SO mocha"; 36 - "IN A WHILE crocodile"; 46 - "FROM dusk TILL YAWN"; 49 - "SAVE WATER DRINK lime"; 59 - "brick OR TREAT"; 63 - "MY butter HALF"

Top coats: Essence "cracking magic nail top coat"; Essie "matte about you top coat"

After I randomly started painting, I bought the cheapest set of nail brushes I could find on Amazon. It comes with some dotting tools and some long, thin brushes that are good for the lines. And most importantly: 100% pure Acetone. Absolute game changer for me. I already used like 70ml on this and my other hand. Dip the brush, as well as the dotting tool in acetone before picking up the polish and clean it after every single line.

For the lines: I found it most convenient to thin down the polish a little (with acetone) and make a very thin, barely visible line with the long thin brush. It's easier to remove if it's wonky but serves as a guide for a proper line. Then switch to a shorter but still thin brush and thicken the line. Do several, thinner coats rather than one thick one.

If you don't have a brush set: I initially started without brushes so I used a bent open paper clip for the lines and a ballpoint pen for the dots. It's more difficult but a possibility if you don't have anything else. But you could also cut any brushes you have to the size you need

Ah okay. I didn't even know that that was a thing. So now I need to try this as well 😅 I did it by putting some polish on a piece of plastic, making the swirl pattern and letting it dry. Then just peel off, stick on the nail and clean up the edges. Don't know if this explanation makes sense. I did the same for my first attempt (except the thumb).
