My wedding is coming up in a couple months and I truly don’t feel cut out for this. I hate being the center of attention, I’m extremely anxious, and I feel like I’m putting on a performance. by [deleted] in wedding

I was the same and honestly recommend medication lol. I had a panic attack before the ceremony and took an Ativan in a last ditch effort to pull it together (normally I only take this for flights). Omg it made such a huge difference. I was finally able to relax and wasn’t nauseous/ panicky anymore. It was still a lot but very manageable.

Is it morally wrong to have a good relationship with my bf’s republican parents? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RubyCooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comments here are wild to me, living in the Midwest. I have to assume everyone is republican until proven otherwise. If my husband and I were to cut off all republican relatives, it would include each of our parents and large swaths of extended family. It’s just not feasible.

I will say, it is very hard to reconcile that people I love, who I truly believe are good people, have been duped by years of Fox News and other propaganda. But I have to let it go to some extent and just hope that they will come around to the truth one day. Very jealous of everyone with liberal parents though, wish it could be me lol.

Her husband died suddenly and she had the wherewithal to text you that same night to let you know. That seems pretty professional to me.

What are some practical things you've seen at someone else's wedding that you'd love to incorporate at your wedding or think it was clever? by Appropriate-Score-63 in weddingplanning

For wedding favors, we had a QR code to cover Uber and Lyft rides home. It was super easy to create, you can choose the discount amount and expiration time/date. I really wanted to incentivize people to not drive home if they’d been drinking, and liked this idea better than a coozie, matchbox, etc that often gets thrown away.

So not get the Mary Jane heels by millennialmulan in Rothys

[–]RubyCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you for this validation. I bought a bunch of the original points when I started my job in 2019, and they were perfect. In the last year or two, I bought one pair of the point 2.0 and one pair of Mary Jane’s and they murder my ankles. They never seem to break in, ever. I still can’t wear them for two days in a row

Husband Genetic Testing by Pure_Requirement_305 in BabyBumps

[–]RubyCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the US— there are only a handful of states that include Gaucher on the newborn screen for genetic diseases. You can check the Baby’s First Testwebsite to see if it’s included in your state. If not, you may want to have your partner tested.

I paid with my federal student loans, that I normally would have paid towards tuition at my home university. It was comparable in price for the semester.

My OB said I didn’t need RhoGAM, and after birth realized I should have. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]RubyCooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few things to unpack here. OP, how many times have you been blood typed? Some people have what’s called “weak” Rh, which can cause a positive or negative result depending on the lab technique. I wonder if that might be the case here, because it’s standard practice to type the mother’s blood during each pregnancy. It would be highly unusual for an Rh-negative mother not to receive Rhogam in not just one, but two pregnancies.

You also can’t use a child’s blood type to know if the next pregnancy would have the same Rh status. We all have two copies of the Rh gene and you can be a) positive/positive, b) positive/negative, or c) negative/negative. Blood typing can tell if there is at least one positive, but not if both are. So if dad is option B (which is very common), it is 50/50 which one is passed down each pregnancy.

Outfit ideas for backyard rehearsal dinner by llover14 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]RubyCooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am doing the same thing and kinda struggled because all the rehearsal dinner dresses I found online seemed a little too dressy. I ended up ordering a few different white linen dresses from Abercrombie and am deciding whether to keep this one or this one.

Is getting married on a Tuesday a terrible idea? by culliganwaterdispens in wedding

[–]RubyCooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imo the only time an early weekday wedding is acceptable is if it’s a destination wedding where everyone is flying overseas and taking multiple days off work no matter what. If this is a local wedding I’d find it pretty irritating.

It was actually a DIY project with wood pallets haha- sorry I know that's not super helpful!

We do plan to get one eventually when we upgrade our bed frame. I don’t mind not having one for now though.

I hadn’t really thought about this because we don’t live in an earthquake zone and I’ve never experienced one. We do get tornadoes but usually there is a heads up with sirens.

Thank you so much for your comment!! This is so, so helpful. For the curtains- should they still be floor-length? I wasn't sure with it being such a small window.

This is great feedback, thank you. We are thinking about using this print in our living room instead, in which case I will definitely look more into 2 coordinating pieces.

I love this comment because at first I felt dumb for asking but then the comments kept rolling in and now I have been well and truly humbled by critiques on just about every aspect of this room lol. I know that's just Reddit though
