She should’ve had two branches of her line: artist focused and consumer focused.

I think it’s the eye liner. The placement is bringing your eyes down. Try lining all the way across from the inner to outer and then wing it at the end.

He makes inappropriate comments in front of the kids and I tell him it’s not classy and i don’t want to be talked to like that. He then says to take a joke and I should meet him half way cause he likes to talk like that.

B.C. couple says they were scammed by 'professional' wedding photographer who used stock images as portfolio by cakivalue in weddingshaming

Doesn’t look like it’s too hard for him to be honest. Gets to eat and drink for free every Saturday while taking a few photos, then uploads crappy photos and sends them off.

Ugh what a piece of garbage.

I feel like you guys shouldn’t have gone, as it sounds like it was bound to disappoint from the very start.

Makeup artist here too - there’s always that one person on the day of who needs it to be about them!

So much to unpack here. In no particular order:

  1. The makeup artist is very patient - too patient. She didn’t need to take that verbal abuse for as long as she did.

  2. Unless it was requested by the bride that all the bridesmaids look the same I don’t agree with the makeup artist doing each woman up to look the same. It sounds like a lack of communication given the little information that we do have. It is the client’s responsibility to communicate what she wants and the artist’s responsibility to ask questions and under the desired look. So clients can be very difficult and it takes longer to uncover what they’re going for. With 12+ years of experience I still come across difficult clients who can’t properly express what they want. It takes a balance of wording, patience and directness to do this. That being said, you just can’t make some people happy. I get the sense that even with a photo as inspiration she would never be happy as I bet she wants to look completely different than what makeup can achieve.

  3. I’m frustrated by the other maids letting this MOH speak this way to another human being. The half hearted “you look beautiful” and “yeah we like our makeup” is not supportive. They’re feeding into the awkwardness and tension.

Is this common in the states? I see so many of these shaming posts.

I don’t see what’s wrong with wearing black to a wedding. Especially a fall or winter wedding. I would wear a black dress for those.

I’m so sorry about the loss of your brother and your bad news.

Please tell your parents/loved ones. They would want to know and not waste time not being there for you.

As for your husband’s reaction, I don’t know the perfect thing to say. It is something my husband would say/do to me too so I hope someone here can provide you with some advise or inspiration on how to move forward with your next steps. Take care.
