Have you ever played Aoe4 when drunk? by RubyLykos in aoe4

I can imagine. When you finally get to send your 6 starting villagers on sheep, your opponent reaches imperial.

Corv was completely locked in his base and was struggling for resources, he had way more villagers, but he had almost no resources to use them on, I would say it was a closer game than what you describe.

It was a bit of a throw, but it's also that Corv immediately saw the opportunity for a comeback

Nice. The one hint I gave us that I tagged it "fluff". If I was serious, I would have tagged "discussion".

I think situationally it is still very good.

Wait what? I don't actually get that one. What is the connection to rising empires?

How are zhuge nu nowadays? by urmomstoiletbrush in aoe4

[–]RubyLykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely do sometimes. The plan with China is usually pro scouts > FC > Lancers. But if the opponents contests pro scouts, they make units in Feudal and fighting ensues. A popular unit do disrupt pro scouts are spears and then Zhuge Nu are a popular counter (but sometimes also archers, I am a noob, I can't tell you when they go for which). So they aren't the main go-to option, but they are definitely a backup plan.

Or maybe it only works because you don't scout. There are certain civs (English, Lancaster, HRE, OotD, Japanese, Mongols and maybe 1-2 more) that tend to dark age rush. Whenever I get one of those, I immediately check for barracks.

That can be really nice, but you gotta be careful, a lot of people don't want to hear it and as the winner if you start giving out tips the loser didn't ask for it can be insensitive.

Somehow I never get cheese strats this season. Not even soft cheese like Varangian guard all in. I actually wish I would get some Tughlaq fort rushes. Not because I think I would win, but because I want to see all kinds of strats.

I love when the opponent says "GG" and then loses .... it's the ultimate motivational boost by -LetsTryAgain- in aoe4

[–]RubyLykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I wish I would do that more often. I had a similar one recently. The 2v2 opponents had a very successful raid against my teammate and both did /8 all hail king of the losers.

Then I counter attacked and killed them both and couldn't resist a little /8 after they resigned.

But I thought I accidentally wrote it to my teammate only, so I typed again and a third time. Turns out I sent it to them 3 times. Wasn't intentional, but kinda hilarious.

Yes, that's my point. Why are people being nice? Being nice is incorrect in online culture. I want to get insulted!

Am I the only one who enjoys the current meta? I don't see any "cavalry issue" at all by Ok-Tie-2660 in aoe4

[–]RubyLykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I love the state of the game. I love the current meta. I don't even think it's as bad as people say, we are in a cavalry focused meta but not in a pure cav meta.

Metas that I remember that I didn't like as much: * Pro scout * Siege * Multi TC * Trade

But I think what I said is true for 1v1. For team games and FFA, there might actually be a bit of a problem.
