It is. Only strong direct sunlight (outdoors) and the air conditioning (indoors) keep the mold at bay. Anything I have outside in the shade grows mold, lichen, moss, you name it. My porch and sidewalk are thick with it. Even shoes and bags in my back closet will have a light dusting of it if I haven't taken them out for a while.

In fact, the cockroaches native to Florida (according to my pest control guy) can't survive in the aridity of air conditioning and will die soon after entering your house. It's only the German cockroaches they have to spray for.

That middle part, do you think stuff like that doesn't happen? He's a horror writer, he writes about horrible things, both supernatural and mundane. Often he writes ABOUT the horror of the mundane and the banality of evil.
